Legend of Origin of Lochness Monster

Lochness, the largest fresh water lake of Scotland is believed to be the habitat of an alleged animal - Loch Ness Monster. Moreover, this water dinosaur has been identified neither to any family nor to any species. Amongst the prominent animals studied by crypto zoology, the Lochness Monster’s proof of existence is mostly anecdotal because of least and greatly disputed photographic material, and sonar readings. As of now no physical proof, like skeletal ruins, live animal detain, definitive tissue samples or spoor, has been discovered. Ever since it captured the world’s attention in 1933, the credence and interest for this animal have grown and declined over the time. Since the 1950’s, the local natives lovingly started referring this animal as Nessie.

Legend of Origin of Lochness Monster

The Loch Ness Monster has been first cited in the Life of St. Columbia, written by Adamnan somewhere around the 7th century. There, it is explained how Columbia rescued a Pict, who was supposedly attacked by the monster. The debatable existence of monster was delimited by questions by critics who claimed that the book has many natural and supernatural tales, which cannot necessarily relate to present happenings.

It was also stated that the monster encounter happened on the River Ness, instead of the Loch. Furthermore, no other incidents of the monster attacking anyone have been noticed till day. People also portrayed this animal of yet being shy. To conclude, critics said that such miraculous events were stipulations of writings about saints’ lives. Monstrous beasts and slaying them to save someone were like ingredients to their stories.

History of Loch Ness Monster
Besides earliest mention of Columbia, D. Mackenzie described as alleged sighting of the monster in Oct’ 1871. He said that he saw something going off at a speed though no original source for the report has been ascertained. Major evidence dates back to July 1933, when Peter Martin and Sam Jacobs saw an absolutely different animal crossing the road facing their car. For the first time, the statistics of the monster got revealed; it was about 4 feet high, 25 feet long, and had long, narrow neck.

In the same year, Arthur Grant, a motorcyclist, asserted to have almost hit the creature while going Abriachan on the northeastern shore, in the night. He saw a small head joined with long neck and then, creature got into the Loch. Late in 1933, Margaret Munro, who was a young maidservant, evidently saw this huge creature that had elephant-like skin, a long neck, a small head and two short forelegs.
Until 1963, such irregular land sightings persisted and thereafter, a second-rate film of the creature was made from a distance. In December 1954, an eccentric sonar contact was made through the fishing boat - Rival III. The sonar readings of a large creature were observed by the vessel's crew. Since 1933, a picture has come out from study of reports of large animals in the Loch, but there is no evident proof that Loch Ness Monster actually exists or not.

IB4U let's go watch for him.. I've always wanted to do that.. It does appear much like the Dino and lives at great deeps It is also said that these creatures could live in Lake Superior, as the deeps are similar and the temperatures.

I believe also that this is very possible. Like the Mountain Gorilla , Giant Squid which parts or some have been filmed. The what about Sasquatch and others forms through out the world. There is always the unknown and many are being found over time. The ability to survive and be unseen is natures way to preserve it's creatures. The Deer for and example, will lay flat to the ground and let you walk right by and after you do, will get up a go the other direction.

Since the Loch Ness monster story has been around for more than 1500 years, if there is a monster it is not likely that it is the same monster seen by St. Columba. Or, are we to believe that not only is Nessie very big, she is very old as well, Head of the Loch Ness Project, once said the monster could be a Baltic sturgeon, a primitive fish with a snout and spines which can grow up to nine feet long and weigh in at around 450 pounds. This may sound like just another fish story to some, but there is scientific evidence that Nessie is, at best, a big fish in a big lake, or a big wake in a big lake.

Dr Shine, who has been studying the Loch Ness story for some twenty-five years, now thinks that what people see when they think they see the "monster" is actually an underwater wave.
A similar view has been presented by Luigi Piccardi, an Italian geologist "who is convinced that seismic rumblings far below the famous Scottish lake cause the roiling waves, deep groans and explosive blasts that have for centuries led people to believe that a giant beast lurks below the loch's murky surface
