Wow!! And I thought my life was hectic with 2 African Gray goslings I have to keep caged inside until they get their feathers because they have no mother to crawl under for warmth. Noisy little buggers

At the time this comment is being typed, Sci is sitting next to me, newborn fox squirrel cupped in her right hand, her left hand holds a very tiny syringe filled with a certain type of formula mixed for babies this young, they're quite ravenous even at this size. It's pretty neat watching something so young and fragile growing so rapidly, especially given the circumstances.
Choos, the mother of the fox squirrels came to Sci after some kind of mishap, she gave birth while recuperating. The Flying Squirrels do have a tendency to mate in captivity. These particular Flying Squirrels are in a pre-release pen in the backyard, as they're due to be released shortly. Obviously, that's not going to happen at this point, but that was the plan. Flying squirrels tend to live in colonies and these 3 adult Flyers are no exception...it's just someone felt the beginnings of Spring and well, nature took its course.
