Well, in fact not quite the truth, as he is not in London, but various articles from his tomb are. And it wasn't a day either, probably not an hour, but, a once in a lifetime chance to see such things.
We managed to get ourselves out of bed this morning, bright and early. Not an easy task as we had our first ramble yesterday. Maybe those of you who read my words occasionally may think I already ramble enough; but this is the chance to walk over the footpaths and byways of our area, and generally keep them open. A friend of mine I met through photography runs our local group, and so with some trepidation we joined in yesterdays eleven and a half mile walk.
In facy it was not that bad, a nice walk through this county's green and pleasant lands, seeing corners that most don't normally see. Anyway, after 6 miles we made it to the lunch stop in a nice country pub. Real ale and a beef and mushroom bagette was perfect. But, when we got to set off again, or legs made it clear that they had had enough. As luc would have it, a couple were heading back to the start ooint in a car, and offered us the chance of cutting the walk short.
Which we took.
6 miles may not seem much, and indeed it isn't, but as a first walk it was enough, and not too much as to make the thought of next weekends walk horrible.
So, back home, and on with the coffee maching and a generous slice of Limonchello and Grappa Tart, and then a nice soak in the bath. Even better, Jools' Dad offered us roast dinner, and so wine bottle in hand we headed off for a heart meal in the evening.
That brings us to this morning: getting to London is easy and fairly cheap from here; we have two good lines into the city, and soon we were whisking our way through the hop fields and orchards of Kent into the capital.
After a photographic trip to an area of London called The Barbican, we headed off for the financial centre of London now in the docklands area in the east of the city. We stopped off for lunch at Canary Warf, and found a large Italian place that did wonderful mozzerella salad and a glass or two of red. Then off to where King Tut is, or his things are; The Old Millenium Dome. Although it has now been rebranded the O2 arena, after a mobile phone company; but it's the same place. Cost the taxpayers a fortune and at least now getting some use.
It looks like a large white circular tent, but inside there is enough room for a multi screen cinema, two exhibitions, a multitude of eating choices with more than enough room to spare.
The Exhibition is good, although not large; but informative, and of interest to me was seeing statues and reliefs of his father, Arkenaten, not many of which survive. But the craftmanship on all the artifacts was stunning, and the fact they survived the thousands of years.
Sadly, it is really a money making exercise, and after looking round the shop I thought my life would not be impoved by shelling out so much money on a book containing pictures I already have in other books.
We had planned to go to Soho so Jools could do some bead buying, but we both came to the conclusion that we would like to head home early and beat the rush hour and spend the evening in the bath.
So, if you get the chance to see the exhibition, I would strongly advise you to go, and see some of the wonders of the Upper and Lower Kingdoms.

Im glad you enjoyed it. I am extremely fortunate to have been to Cairo and seen the complete collection.. its absolutely mind blowing!.. how the ancient Egyptians had such wonderful knowledge to make such beauty.
I also went to to see his Tomb in the valley of the kings.
Unfortunately, because he died suddenly, there are very few hieroglyphics in the tomb.. many people were disappointed as they thought it would be covered in them. He actually rests in the tomb there and not in the museum but you cant see him as the stone sarcophagus is sealed.
I would reccomend anyone to go to Egypt, its the most magical place Ive ever been to.
Thanks for this blog.. its brought it all back!!
