Some two and a half months ago I was told I was overweight.
In fact, this was not news to me.
What was news was that if I did not lose weight, I would in fact lose my job.
I had six months to lose 20 pounds.
So, the last week of April, some two months ahead of schedule, I am about 30 pounds or so lighter, wearing clothes I have not thought about for years.
I knew zoot suits and kaftans would come in handy again.
So, I have lost weight, some to go though, but I am fitter. I can row for 45 minutes now, and then go onto the cross trainer and then the bike. Man, I am so full of energy. We have joined the ramblers, and are looking forward to our next trip this Sunday across the Kent countryside.
So, I am going back to the quacks on Monday for a new medical, and should pass with flying colours and save my job, and if I keep this up, save my life.
We joined a gym last week, and now get sweaty together all over again.
The other great news is Mum is also losing weight, and is much more mobile now and regretting for not starting years back.
Yeah, another huge slice of hubris for both of us I think.
Thank you for reading, etc.

Great Job JT! That is a very motivating story. I have been fighting the weight battle for most of my life, and unfortunately did loose my dream job as a result of my weight. It was totally devastating for me, it was like the carpet had been pulled out from under my life. I am happy that you have spared yourself from this terrible experience. I hope you have a very long and rewarding career.

My husband (who eventually died, God rest his soul from complications of diabetes) had gotten diabetes back in 1995, and we all went on the diet they requred. Basically taking mostly anything white out of the house. White sugar, flour, pasta, bread, etc. It was the best thing we could ever do, we are still doing it today even though none of my daughters or I are diabetics, we maintain our weight fairly easily without really having to diet. Just an idea for anyone having trouble, it's kinda easy.

Even more exciting than your news about your own bod is that Mum is taking control of her life, finally. What wonderful news! I hope she'll find herself happier and healthier.
