I hate most poetry.
I do like some Dr. Seuss and my childhood favourite was Edward Lear.
Apparently good poetry about nonsense is the most difficult to write.
I stress the word 'good' here; there is plenty of nonsensical poetry.
Pictures and good rhyme...~*~

Speaking of poets... some of my personal fav's... Kris Kristofferson, God what a man of words...and the ever so wonderful Shel Silverstein... well worth a read, Dr Suess with pizazz.
Now some of us dream in colours and do our best to share. but often folks don't listen right. They just don't wanna to hear...
Have mercy please on those of us that truly are aware our words are choppy, not real smooth, and ofttimes, well... unclear.
Our hearts are pure, we wish no harm I apologize my dear if this poor fool dreams too much and occasionally offends your ear!
Now, my music on the other hand ain't so bad! (after you've had a few...)

I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to post one of my favourites...
Dreadful
Someone ate the baby. It's rather sad to say. Someone ate the baby So she won't be out to play. We'll never hear her whiney cry Or have to feel if she is dry. We'll never hear her asking "Why?" Someone ate the baby.
Someone ate the baby. It's absolutely clear Someone ate the baby 'Cause the baby isn't here. We'll give away her toys and clothes. We'll never have to wipe her nose. Dad says, "That's the way it goes." Someone ate the baby.
Someone ate the baby. What a frightful thing to eat! Someone ate the baby Though she wasn't very sweet. It was a heartless thing to do. The policemen haven't got a clue. I simply can't imagine who Would go and (burp) eat the baby.

Shel Silverstein is one my kids grew up on and I had a great giggle and sense of pride when I spotted two or three brand new Silverstein books on my new grandbaby's bookshelf. Mama dun good. (...Now to make sure they introduce him to some classic Edward Gorey )
Shoddy aims for ego's gains are but the devil's friend Goodness, food for thought, though perhaps for nought.

I couldn't resist...this one just fits If it fits, you should wear it So I felt I should share it
Paranoid
Everybody says I'm paranoid They all think I'm crazy They all smile to my face But they'd like to see me die
They put poison in my coffee They put ground glass in my oatmeal They put spiders in my tennis shoes And shit in my pecan pie
It's hard to stop and figure out Where did it all begin You see, my father wanted a little girl And my mother wanted twins
And my grandpa admired Hitler So everything I did was wrong And I'm gonna stop now 'Cause even though you're smilin' I know ya hate this song
Yeah, and I know you're only listenin' 'Cause you don't wanna hurt my feelins And you're just waitin' for me to leave So you can laugh about my open fly
You put the poison in my coffee You put the groung glass in my oatmeal You put the spiders in my tennis shoes And you shit in my pecan pie...
I know! Don't deny it, I know! I know...I know...

There is nothing like a bad rhyme or verse I have to be honest, not sure which is worse A rhyme that is crap and makes no sense Or a verse full of s t o o p i d, that sounds dense A badly spelled 'poem' that reads like trash Written in haste and oh so brash A few lines that they think are so pretty They make no sense and are far from witty
And they can’t 'give a tinker or a damn' It falls nothing short of another scam But it’s all these things that go together That make them believe they are so clever

His meter never petered when he featured any creature.
Me? I often skew the meter... but these fellas don't:
A Line-Storm Song - Robert Frost (an under-rated poet)
The line-storm clouds fly tattered and swift. The road is forlorn all day, Where a myriad snowy quartz stones lift, And the hoof-prints vanish away. The roadside flowers, too wet for the bee, Expend their bloom in vain. Come over the hills and far with me, And be my love in the rain.
The birds have less to say for themselves In the wood-world's torn despair Than now these numberless years the elves, Although they are no less there: All song of the woods is crushed like some Wild, earily shattered rose. Come, be my love in the wet woods, come, Where the boughs rain when it blows.
There is the gale to urge behind And bruit our singing down, And the shallow waters aflutter with wind From which to gather your gown. What matter if we go clear to the west, And come not through dry-shod? For wilding brooch shall wet your breast The rain-fresh goldenrod.
Oh, never this whelming east wind swells But it seems like the sea's return To the ancient lands where it left the shells Before the age of the fern; And it seems like the time when after doubt Our love came back amain. Oh, come forth into the storm and rout And be my love in the rain.
i carry your heart with me - ee cummings i carry your heart with me(i carry it in my heart)i am never without it(anywhere i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done by only me is your doing,my darling) i fear no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true) and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows (here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide) and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

Well look at all the nana jokes God, they make me wanna choke! RESPECT OTHERS is what you say... Why can't YOU do it, anyway?
Practice what you preach, I say When you do, it will go away Leave it be and quit your sht If you really wanna be done with it!

I just figured out what this poem was all about.
Sometimes or most often, I am the last to understand what is before me.
The little man is not a poet and he just doesn't know it. Pleas don't anyone tell him. I love watching him make a fool of hiimself.
