When the alarm went off this morning at a quarter to four this morning, I did ask myself exactly why we were getting up so damned silly o'clock.

Well, my photographic group had arranged an early entry into a nearby country park, to watch the sunrise and then capture the rampage spring is making in their gardens and woods.

So, whilst it was still dark, we turfed the cats outside and stumbled to the car for the hour drive to Hole Park on the edge of the Romney Marsh.

We had forgot to check the final e mail with unimportant things like the actual directions. So, we set off in the general direction and hoped for the best.

Away to the east, the sky was brightening, and as we drove with the windows down, the early birds were letting the world know how great it is to get that worm.

In the end, as we neared Tenderton, there were signs, and so we arrived with a quarter of an hour before sunrise, and the other few crazy photographers who had also made the trip.

As luck would have it, today is the first really warm day, and the morning was crystal blue clear, and the sunrise was spectacular as we had hoped.

There were lakes and ponds, made mirrors in the calm of the dawn, and becmae more photographic subjects. But, even better were the rest of the gardens, and best of all the woods which at this time of year are carpeted by millions of bluebells.

Finding woods like these are hard, and to be there with so few other people about even rarer; and so we wandered through the wood, snapping away, catching the changing light at the rays of the new risen sun shone nthrough the canopy of leaves above.

The owner of the house had arranged to provide us with breakfast at seven; and so in dribs and drabs hungry photogrpahers and hard pressed partners presented themselves for fresh cured back bacon; field mushrooms; free range fried eggs and warm toast. All washed down with fresh coffee. And free of charge was the view of the house and gardens all around. And in the air, the sound of the first cuckoo let the world know he was about. And in the eaves of the house, newly arrived swallows swooped and dived to announce their arrival from North Africa.

That was the start of the day; how much better could it get?

Well; visit a couple of country churches: the picturesque town of Rye; visit a second hand record shop; a walk along the beach; an afternoon snooze, and to end the first bbq of the year in the evening sunshine.

Have a great weekend.

Beautiful descriptions, as usual, my friend....AND...a hell of a lot easier to "see it all through YOUR eyes...at noon.....instead of at dawn!.

I'm only kidding, sweetie....whenever I've seen the beginning of a day, it's always been a wonderful experience. So glad you two are enjoying your time at home!

Fondly,

I'm SO tempted to pay for you to go gold so that you could post some of your photos right here, on your blogs. ...but you also have a wonderful penchant for illustrating your adventures with your words.

Thank you for another lovely jaunt. I truly enjoyed sharing another day with you and Jools.
And I didn't even have to put on shoes.
