In honor of Eddy Arnold, my mom's choice of favorite singers who passed away this week.. I thought this would most probably suit him.. and it will be mine on my trip out of this world:
Do not stand at my grave and weep -- by Mary Frye
Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep I am a 1,000 winds that blow I am the diamond glints on snow I am the sun on ripened grain I am the gentle autumn rain When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled light I am the soft star that shines at night Do not stand at my grave and cry I am not there; I did not die. It has been a week of spoiling Abbey. Actually, Abbey (a/k/a My Blazer) needed four new shoes last week.. which set me back some major beaucoups.. and then today she went in for the whole nine yard day at the spa.. for the inspection. To my utter dismay, she needed back routers.. so.. more $$$$.. but gotta tell you , she is purring like the spoiled kitten she is.
In keeping with the Double Dare, I thought you might like to see some of the beautiful things that surround me here out in the boonies I call "home"..
This is a picture of the pretty boy in my life....
Ain't He Fine????
This is a picture of the farm about a mile down the road.. I really would have loved to buy that place, but I had to stick "with what I could afford" .. so the real estate agent keep telling me while she was showing me drovels. I thought this picture perfect place would make a lovely Bed & Breakfast Inn when I retire and have a little more time to devote to the premises.. but when I win the lottery, I may still buy this...
Farm I wanted for a Bed and Breakfast
And another view of the scenery at that farm:
Reflections in the pond
But I am very content here.. my bearded Irises are starting to open and the mowing has been done for this week. My neighbor, Betty, dropped by the other night when I was raking and we took a walk into the lower field.. she was amazed that I cleared it as much as it is now.. a far cry from the way it was 3 years ago.. she thought it would make a nice picnic grove. Not at all, it is for my babies in the next few years.. I can see them down there prancing around with their manes and tails flowing in the wind....
and for gramps: Thanks Lou... Merlot!
A man asked a waiter to take a bottle of Merlot to an unusually attractive woman sitting alone at a table in a cosy little restaurant. So the waiter took the Merlot to the woman and said, 'This is from the gentleman who is seated over there and indicated the sender with a nod of his head. She stared at the wine coolly for a few seconds, not looking at the man, then decided to send a reply to him by a note. The waiter, who was lingering nearby for a response, took the note from her and conveyed it to the gentleman.
The note read: 'For me to accept this bottle, you need to have a Mercedes in your garage, a million dollars in the bank and 7 inches in your pants '
After reading the note, the man decided to compose one of his own in return. He folded the note, handed it to the waiter and instructed him to deliver it to the lady. It read:
'Just to let you know things aren’t always what they appear to be, I have a Ferrari Maranello, BMW Z8, Mercedes CL600, and a Porsche Turbo in my several garages; I have beautiful homes in Aspen , Miami , and a 10,000 acre ranch in Louisiana . There is over twenty million dollars in my bank account and portfolio. But, not even for a woman as beautiful as you are, would I cut off three inches. Just send the bottle back.'
