I had a lot of ‘stuff’ on my mind as I was driving my car along the country lane today. The sun was shining through the trees that swayed in the light breeze, and it split the crystal in my car into all the colours of the spectrum.
Rays of light, so pretty, just as if my car was filled with rainbows.
I turned in the bend in the road, it seemed to go on forever, never ending rainbows, my journey to the publisher.
Fitz greeted me with a smile, we went in.
This place had been a ghost shop on my last visit, but today everything had come to life with huge machines pumping out all sorts of literature from books to FA Cup brochures.
I watched the arms go around on belts, the paper as it fed the greedy beasts and I watched some more as they mulled them over and spat them out, again and again and again.
I asked about light curtains, inks, blades, all sorts of switches and buttons, like some kid checking out the flavour of sweets in a sweetshop.
It was noisy, busy, I love this atmosphere, I would love to go and play there some time, ‘play’ with the machines.
I love those big machines.
The Mac screen at almost a metre wide was amazing. I watched Fitz for a while as he used it to quickly check my graphics and text. I was guessing that he would rip it apart, he’s the best in the business but he didn’t. He agreed, it’s poetry, punctuation can be different; in poems it just can.
When you want something in life, you have to go and get it, if you can’t get it you can always ask and try to make that happen. If had a lot of money right now, I would buy myself a canvas plotter, but they are way out of my reach at the moment and probably always will be, Fitz doesn’t have one. The canvas for these plotters alone costs around $160/£80 per roll and then there’s the ink and the cost of the plotter which runs into many thousands.
So I turned to my favourite site again a few weeks ago, Gumtree; placed a cheeky advert asking for a few little things, a >>>funny list<<<
There was no way I thought I would get anything from there, not even a packet of crisps or a man. I did have lots of replies with men offering their services and lots of packets of cheese and onion crisps, but that was about it for a couple of months.
Months later, a reply arrived, a local artist has a canvas plotter and would love help me with my work.
So now, as I wait for the master, to keep myself busy, I’m hopefully going to get access to the plotter tomorrow with Josephine, and maybe advertise next for a magic bus with an invisible pound.

A canvas plotter ~sigh~
I do have a pyrometer with a thermal-paper plotter (don't even ask how or why ). One can create some interesting patterns by manipulating the heat applied to the leads, but alas, the "art" fades in time.
~grin~ I did run across this magical bus KIT the other night on Craig's List:
>>>Magical Bus KIT<<<
It's local, if you'd like me to check it out.
Hey, thank you for sharing your rainbows...and your butterflies. You've been dancing around in a field of dreams that most never turn into a reality. Kudos!

Another excellent blog. Stir up some memories of when I was a kid taking classes in graphics arts and working in some print shops. I could almost smell the ink. I to love those great machines taking huge rolls of paper and spiting out these wonderous pages of color.
