And that's the very reason that even today I ALWAYS inspect the bath tub (and spout!) before filling it up. 
Have you noticed how many "innocent" nursery rhymes and children's stories have some pretty gory stuff in 'em?  "The Brothers Grimm", especially translated directly from German, are VERY "grim", lol. I'm not even sure we're allowed to read that stuff to little ones these days.
