Saturday Shopping
I got up this morning and decided to go shopping for a change.
I thought about how excited people get about it and tried to get into the swing of things but it did nothing for me.
I thought about the stores in town and all the stuff on sale especially the latest fashions, white chocolate pralines, queues and crowds of people rushing about everywhere, that did nothing for me either, not even the chocolate.
At one stage I even tried to coax myself by substituting the clothes for beer…but still it didn’t tempt me.
I asked myself if there was anything I wanted or perhaps needed, but there isn’t, I’m not partial to ‘things.’
Then I started to wonder if I really should be going shopping at all as I tried to remember the last time I went out and actually bought myself something. I honestly can’t remember what it was, so what was the point in that?
No eye dear.

You are funny, girl...I can remember when I USED TO ENJOY SHOPPING.....I think it was when I had enough money to not worry.
I had to go shopping last week for luggage for my upcoming trip to Scandinavia. OMG do you have ANY idea how many different brands of luggage there are on the market.
Well, I bought American Tourister...Hot Pink, so I don't have to tie a ribbon on it! The wheels are well protected...I've already lost a dozen wheels to the mechanisms (or the baggage handlers) at the airports. Now I have to figure out what I'm taking, pack it, weigh it, and then, (I'm sure) take out several pounds of overage, because they just lowered the weight of permitted free baggage..
Yeh, I know EXACTLY how you feel about shopping....
Love ya, KK

The problem was you weren't in the mood for shopping. Another thing that works for me is to not have any money to spend. Thats when I find lots of stuff.
( I'm a window shopper)

I hate clothing shopping. HATE HATE HATE it! My daughter is such a picky shopper, it's to the point where I want to just get her a Visa gift card with $200 and let her go herself. She drives me nuts in a store!
Now, turn me loose in a Barnes and Noble or other such bookstore and I could get lost for hours....and spend $500 easy.

I just figured out another use for the iron I bought...though you might like to try it with yours. Here it is:
Ingredients (4 egg) 4 eggs (white and yolks seperated) 1 cups milk 1/4 cup flour 1/4 cup butter 1 1/2 cup cheese 1/4 tsp creme of tartar (optional) Pre-heat iron to 350° Butter and flour a large baking dish. Prepare your basic roux. (Ie. melt butter in a pan, add flour and cook—whisking constantly—until it just begins to turn a light brown color.) Heat milk (on iron ) until hot, but not boiling. Add a small amount of roux into the milk and mix, then add the milk mixture back into the roux. Surprise! You now have the basic foundation to a simple white-sauce. Reduce heat on your iron. Whisk a small amount of this hot sauce mixture into the egg yolks, then add the yolks back into the sauce, whisking well. Warning #1: Once you have mixed in the egg yolk, you must be very carefull to keep the overall mixture at a low temperature! Otherwise the egg yolks will temper and your sause will either have a mottled texture or the consistency of a mysterious plastic petrolium product. Reduce heat to the lowest setting on the iron and keep the sause only warm enough to continue melting cheesese or other items. Slowly add cheese and mix until it is melted into the sauce. Surprise! You now have a basic cheese sauce! Warning #2: Before the next step (beating the egg whites) it is worthwhile to note how important it is that you didn't accidentally get any egg yolk into the whites. SERIOUSLY! A couple drops of the yellow stuff with screw your egg whites badly. If you accidentally get a drop of a broken yolk into the whites, carefully and surgically remove it with a spoon. Consider the egg yolk to be KRYPTONITE at this stage! Now use a mixer at medium or high speed to beat the egg whites with the cream of tartar until they are "stiff but not dry". (Once they peak, they're done. If you don't stop immediately they'll resemble a merange.) Add 1/4 of the egg white to the sauce and mix. FOLD the sauce into the egg whites. FOLD does not mean mix! This is important: you just barely mix the two together. It is perfectly okay that you see bits of white. The mixture does not need to be homogenous. Place mixture in baking dish and bake on your iron for 30-35 minutes. Serve IMMEDIATELY. When souffles cool, they begin to collapse. Don't worry, it's perfectly normal. ALL crepes start to fall the moment they are pulled out of the over. If you serve immediately though, nobody will notice.
Make sure to grease iron well before starting too....
Hope this helps.

After being out at sea for eight week; even shopping in Tescos can be a joy. Only if I time it right and everyone else is dropping their darlings off at school or its early on a Saturday morning. All those aisles of things, lined up; I have to be careful, after having no real luxuries for a while, its easy to say oh, I haven't had Bailey Ice Cream in ages, I deserve it. And then say the same for about two dozen other calorie laden thing. I must admit, I don't get the idea of wandering around shops if theres nothing you actually want to buy. I started the other day in Bergen, and thought, couldn't I be in a cafe drinking coffee watching the world go by? And I was right, and soon was.
I can't imagine what the shopping is like in Goa, though.....
