Little about me.... biz here for me is real bad at the moment. I worked 1 hr this week and 3 hrs the week before. As I sit home day by day, waiting for a job [ im a carpenter/contractor] Im thinking.. I gotta do SOMETHING. So I figure.. Maybe drive a cab??? [ i live in a pretty populated area ] So I go down 2 days ago and get an application... he says I gotta get a driving abstract. Ok So I go... fill out the app, and drop it off yesterday. He says..."looks great... can ya come in tomorrow and work a 12 hr shift?" Well... its better than twiddling thumbs at home..... so off I go today.. Im now a taxi driver. Lemmie tell ya.....it aint so easy!!! They gimmie a little map I cant even see the letters..... Then they call ya along the way " ya gotta stop here and pick up this guy too" "where are ya..?? go here too" At times they would call me and ask me where I am...and I go blank.... huh??? Wait??? where am i?? wasnt I just here?? Or was that 3 fares ago???? Then they rapid fire you directions somewhere... like 5 different streets to get to the address.....On your way.... then ya pass somewhere you just went to before, "Damn... where am I, and where the hell am I going??" I was just asking the passengers to tell me when to turn to get to where they are going. One lady didnt even know here right from her left. It was an experience to say the least. They got me on the schedule for 4, 9 hrs shifts next week...... What a week its gonna be Anybody with any good taxi stories?

Is there any such thing as a good taxi story? God Bless you! My sense of direction is awful. Maybe you'll make it all the way to my hood.

Well…. I had friends that were cab drivers in NJ…. They never let anyone go out alone till they drove around with someone for a few days at least… If you wanted maps.. You bought them… after a few weeks you’ll have the city covered…. You’ll learn all the tricks… LOL… I was told by my friends that I’d be good at it because I used to drive fast, and had a sense of when to slow down… (cops and stuff) However, I just needed to learn how to find my way out of a paper bag…. I got lost so easily… LOL…

Suggestion: Thomas Guide--- and it comes in big print, too. Well worth a few dollars investment. Good luck.
