I no longer own my own home and now live in an apartment building in center of city,on the 6th floor.it has been getting hotter and hotter  .,.,MUST buy an AC,...the sweat has been pouring of me for 2 days.,  .,so friday after work.,went to Kmart.,got a 5000 btu for 99 dollars,.,Kenmore(made in china  ).,.dang thing was heavy for only 5000 btu's  ,.wheeled it up and swiped card and going home to put this baby in the window fast as i can  .,
the city blocked off the streets for some celebration  .,so i had to park 3 blocks away from building .,put AC on shoulder and started walking toward building.,bands lined all up the street playing music.,yay  .,front door now in sight  .,my shirt soaked.,ok inside now.,walking toward elevator.,this better not be out of order.,ahhh.,it is there and ready.,pushed the " 6 ".,  .,out of box and in window now.,.,but no cool air coming out  .,did not work  .,now i'm psssed
Saturday morning,.,pulling into Kmart lot.,pushing cart up to...(remembering blog from our Alberta lady about what service means ),customer service booth.,hmmm.,no bull in sight so i'll risk it., well i exchanged it for a bigger one,. .,i now have it in the window.,plugged in and ., NOTHING ! .,WTF., .,ok.,better read the trouble shooting guide   .,plug has a surge button.,must be lit green.,.,that was it.,turned it on and IT WORKS .,sat in front of that big purring bastid till it got cold .,what a relief.,brushing the frost off my eyebrows 
now i can sleep,.,going to be 100 degrees by monday,just gonna let it run on high.

I almost picked on up last night.. Now I’m wishing I did… problem is as you said they’re heavy and I’m only 4 ft. and 11 inches tall… No I’m not a weigh lifter. So I want one, but need to go with someone to help me with it… I’ll have to try and talk my Daughter and Son in law to help me…
Sigh... but for now I'm melting!
