............. Happy Father's Day .............. to me from my lil man
We counted them, ten fingers, ten toes.
WOW, look at that hair! ..on his back. If you could have seen his back, covered in dark black hair, you would agree we are related to the chimps for sure.
She reached her arms out for that first look into his eyes. It was indeed love at first sight.
And She Wept.
A few weeks passed before tragedy struck.
We have to admit him, and run some tests. No time for going home, we have a room ready.
Immediately we were taken to a private room, isolation. He was only six weeks old. He had a virus that was eating away at his organs. Rash covered lifeless body, all 7 lbs 2 ounces of it. With each breath his chest caved like it would be his last.
And She Wept.
"Dear God, why would you give me this beautiful boy, then threaten to take him from me"? ... she needed explanation."Damn you", she shouted to her Lord. "Damn you"!
That night they received company in the hospital room. A friend, A man, A Bible, Blind Faith and Love. "Pray like you've never prayed before" he told her. "Accept this healing and want it, and it will come true", he said as he prayed over the lifeless body. "He'll be fine", he said as he turned and kissed her cheek, kissed the cheek of the baby, and walked out.
And She Wept.
Six months on a heart monitor strapped to his body was good news for her. She would take that over death.
Today, this baby is a healthy ten year old boy. Today, on Father's Day he wanted to be reminded of "his story". He made a card, placed on her dresser that read, "Mommy, Happy Father's Day to the best mom and dad in the whole world".
And She Wept.
Ten years ago when she sat in that hospital room loosing all faith in her Lord, and questioning him, ...today, ... she received her answer. Love is powerful, prayer is powerful, and the children we are blessed to have in our lives are a blessing.
He kissed her cheek, kissed her forehead, did "the secret handshake", and as he turned and walked out of her room he gave her a wink of an eye and a noise to go with it, ..sort of like a horse clapping sound with his tongue. Ya know, "the noise" that goes with the wink.
And She Wept
I pray one day he is blessed as greatly as I have been. It's a tough job, being mom and dad, but oh so rewarding! I Love You Chad, .. I Love You, I love you, i love you.
And She Wept
