I shouldn't start this blog off by saying this, but I am so in enraged.
Just recently,I have had the pleasure of meeting a bright 16 yr old girl
who is going thru such a difficult time, due to her parents disrubtive
behaviors. As we know being a parent is TRULY a big responsibility.
We come across the newspaper and read articles of children being
mentally abused, verbally abused, and sexually abused, and some
tied up in basements. Just makes me sick to my stomach!
And even if your not a parent it still tugs at your heart to hear someone is suffering. And lets face it the paper is full of this stuff, it's non-stop!
The girl tells me her Mother awakens her in the middle of the night to yell
at her, for no particular reason, just yells directly in her face as she is in a
drunken state when she does this to her. I can only tell you the girl just stands there and takes all the verbal abuse her Mother tosses at her. Then goes to school
and falls asleep in the class.Sometimes she ride sher bike 2 miles to the library just to have quiet moment....and studies. Needless to say with all this, her
grades are still A's and B's.
As for the Father figure, he smokes dope, and thinks about himself.
One could honestly say not much of a parent figure, or a supportive type.
Well just the other day, this 16 yr old girl rode with her Mother to the store.
She didn't want to go with her, due to her drinking. But chose not make a scene
got into the car anyway. Needless to say, by the time they got to the store
Mom has passed out behind the wheel. Now this girl tries to wake her unsuccessfully, without panicking calls 911 informs them of the situation
the police arrive ask there questions, and haul Mom away by ambulance.
The girl goes to the police department and then DCFS is called.
And where's Mom ...she gets out of jail after 3 days, how convienant.
Never asks where's my daughter???........Just wants to get back to the boyfriend.
One has to think......how long does this girl have to suffer like this?
Why can't someone make the parents go thru parenting classes?
At this moment..............she is safe, sleeping, and today got herself a job!
This is a big step for her, and I will be standing next to her as long as she lets me.
It's my time to pay it forward..........

You are such a bright star for helping this young lady.
Thank goodness there are good people willing to help those that desperately need help to begin a better life.
This young lady has the fortitude to go far - I came from a very difficult beginning and it has propelled me to greater things each day and it has afforded me great compassion and empathy for others facing difficult decisions in life.

Good for you, Brunettee. I'm glad you are there for her. In an ideal world, parents would actually be parents and not act like a bunch of spoiled, self-centered children. But, since we are here in the real world, the reality is that parenting classes to someone who really isn't interested in being a good parent to their own children is a hopeless cause and a waste of our tax dollars.
Give her a hug for me, let her know that its not her fault that her parents are irresponsible. Also let her know that it doesn't matter where you came from, but where you are going to. Constantly remind her that education is her ticket to be a happy productive person, and that if one gets a good education, no matter what else happens to them in life, that can never be taken away.

Just got to love a person of action,not just mere complaining yelps,bravo
They are not parents in any sense of the word, they are just selfish losers who are sperm donors,who wish that awesome young girl wasn't here, Karma will screw them up.because this young woman with your help will shame their existence by becoming a woman of substance.
Here's a standing ovation for being so totally awesome, because it could be very easy for you not to sit by this girl pain, but, your undying compassion is one that shall keep this beautiful young being from becoming like her vile parents.
