I just happened to have clicked a profile of some female and read "Heavy smoker here!". Thats an enticement. I can't believe people are still doing this. Whats with this chain smoking business? Its not in style anymore like wearing fur is not in style. Ever see these people up close in the light? Their skin is leathery, they always got that cough in between sentences. Then you hear all that f***ing phlegm gurgle when they laugh and then it goes into a coughing spell followed by clearing of their throats. f***ing gross. And the women. Their voices are a few octaves lower from all the tar sticking to their vocal cords. Often they're drinkers too and have yellow teeth. Really f***ing sexy...
People that are heavy smokers smell like ashtrays. Their cars smell. Their clothing smells. Their homes smell. Its a dirty habit. At $8 for a pack of cigarettes, do that math. At a pack a day, its about $240/month. Thats $2800/year. Some of these people smoke 2 packs a day. Thats a lot of money for most of these people because they're not making hundreds of thousands a year. They're making $20,000-30,000, maybe $40,000 a year.
f***ING STOP ALREADY....

I smoke.
This part terrifies me too. I quit for 3 years and started again, in all honesty though, I have to quit for good.
-I do however see people putting heavy smoker here, enjoys cigars or pipes on their profile to turn people off, I've done it.

Well what about all the actors, musicians and super models? How do you think they stay so slim? Chain smoking, no eating I do happen to agree that it is a gross habit and I HATE the smell of smoke, but I did once fall for this guy who occasionally smoked these cool, nice smelling black clove cigs

Are cigs really up to $8 a pack now? Its more like $80/pack when you consider the cost of lung cancer....Glad you quit.

Chain smokers rock,,,,,,
Have you ever tried to light a damn chain. It ain't easy. And if a girl can get a draw though one,,,,, I want to go out with her......
Remember those old Lucky Strike adds,,,,
SO ROUND, SO FULL, SO FULLY PACKED. SO ,,, EASY ON THE DRAW,,,, ladies, if that doesn't make you want to fire one up, I don't understand you at all.
I just don't get the ladies smoking light cigerettes. You know, they only do this because some man told them it was better to suck twice as hard for half as much....
(liberally paraphrased from Stephanie Hodge,,,, a long time crush.)

I quit three weeks ago. And I don't consider myself a non smoker. I'm a smoker who doesn't smoke. It is a nasty, filthy habit... very hard to quit though... very hard. This is my fifth and final time quitting. ( I so hope!)

Its more like $80/pack when you consider the cost of lung cancer.... .... and the cost of beer and liquor is how much per getting drunk? And how many drunk drivers killed or permanently hurt how many people in the USA during the last year?
I looked at your profile.... You drink socially.... and then you drive yourself home in your own car, don't you?
Smokers in the USA nowadays very often don't smoke anyplace near non-smokers anymore. They don't kill people on the road.... They get the lung cancer for themselves only... .

I looked at your profile.... You drink socially.... and then you drive yourself home in your own car, don't you? Where in my profile does it say I drive after drinking or that I drink until I'm drunk and then drive? Social drinking is a glass or two of wine during dinner, not five shots of Jack Daniels.
Smokers in the USA nowadays very often don't smoke anyplace near non-smokers anymore. They don't kill people on the road.... They get the lung cancer for themselves only... Only? You never heard of secondary smoke? Don't you think kids and others are forced to breathe in the toxic fumes too? Yet even if they stay away from others they're are still committing slow suicide. Not very bright is it?

Hammertime.... I was thinking more of friends and family having to watch a loved one die of lung cancer. ("lung cancer for themselves only".) Unless you're a HERMIT, no one dies of lung cancer "by themselves." It will effect many others too.

I look at my life in Montana where I can see the stars at night, the skies are actually blue during the day, not gray with the smog and dedge of life under it. Thats where you live, correct? New York? Your breathing in and breathing out every minute, every second more filth than perhaps an average smoker experiences up in these here neck of the woods. Life is relative, health is relative, judging people can be relative. I'm involved in a lot of outdoor activities side by side with health junkies, as they call themselves. I keep up with all of them and many that are younger. Funny thing though, most of them are snow birds, part time Montanans, from the big cities. Breath it in most of the year, come up to their million or two dollar homes and cleanse. How many kids in the New York public schools do you think have ever, ever seen the night sky? My boys saw it and breathed it their entire lifes. Life is funny.

Smokers tend to be considerate because they have been made to feel like criminals so any puffing is done furtively, outside of an office building or anywhere not in close proximity to non smokers. Just to put things in context I am a social smoker meaning I have a puff every now and then when I am in the mood and especially when I have a glass of wine. A pack lasts me weeks. I used to be a rabid anti smoking advocate but I have come to realise smokers do have rights too so if a puffer lights up in an area that is not designated a non smoking area and let's face it almost everywhere in an urban environment has been classified as one surely there is no harm to you .
As for not dating or being close to someone who smokes that is your personal choice so let's not witch hunt. Live and let live.

Why do you have your panties in a twist over smoking? Have you ever been in the Military. If you went around spouting off like you are on here among'st soldiers, they would think you are a sissie and give you a garden hose and scouring powder with toilet brush bath!

I am not a smoker and never have been, but I don't mind people who do smoke as long as they don't throw their cigs or empty packs and wrappers around like garbage and be responsible. I hate them on my lawn where I have to walk around behind them and pick them up, it's not fair. I don't like it in my car or having them force my kids who have no choice or myself to breathe the smoke. That's not too much to ask is it? My husband smoked but he was careful not to smoke much around me and was a responsible smoker. His clothes and truck didn't smell like smoke, he kept it clean. Eventually tho, the curtians did have to get taken down more and the ceilings painted more often because it does make them dingy, so be prepared to help put a fresh coat of paint on the walls without complaining, I believe it's your job if you want to smoke and still have things look nice. But be reminded, everything you see on those washrags and curtains while washing windows or walls, do go down ones' throats, it's true about second hand smoke. tc Lost

Most of that smoke goes through the lungs first before getting stuck on the ceiling, curtains and walls.

I can't believe I am actually agreeing with you Hammer about the outcomes of smoking. I don't judge anyone for smoking but neither do I like breathing it in around me. My last husband died of emphysema from smoking...I can identify with the sounds and appearances of the nasty crap that came from his lungs. It's an awful way to watch someone die Believe it or not....my hubby now smokes...after I said I would never be with a smoker again. In so many ways he is a good man, I guess I was willing to overlook the smoking(which he does mostly outside) And I think that makes a huge difference. He cares enough about my dislike of smoke that he tries to not do it around me directly.
But.. to each his own.. if that's the way people choose to live...who am I to say differently...I have my own vices to fix

Don't smoke, never will, never did (unless u count a few months in high school to look cool) ...
I hate the stinch of my son when he comes home from his dads house. He reeks of cig smoke, and it's nauseating.
I prefer not to date a man who smokes too, as I wanna taste him, not his last drag off a marlboro. And no guys, menthol doesn't work!

I quit after taking "Zyban" until I got rushed to the hospital with heart palpitations, erratic breathing, total insomnia, shaking.... all it took was one cigarette to calm me down when the doctor said loudly "Get off the Zyban or you'll kill yourself!"
and why did I try to quit? Peer pressure from my son,my dad, my sister... funny but it was peer pressure that caused me to start. gotta stop typing, need to light up

maybe the woman that had "heavy smoker here" in her profile was trying to warn potential dates--- that she was not giving up her cigs. nothing worse for an ex-smoker than trying to date a smoker that is inconsiderate with their habit. as for costs, maybe the "poor people" only making $20,000 to $40,000 are rolling their own--- at a cost of approximately $10 a CARTON. anddddddddd, as long as the smoker doesn't blow it in my face or light it, and set it in an ash tray, under my nose,,, let them smoke. andddddddddddd, for the record, i quit 16+ years ago, after smoking 3+ packs for over 26 years.
