A Bonita Springs man and a Naples woman were charged with Medicaid fraud and arrested Friday morning.
Timothy M. Timmer, 42, of Bonita Springs, allegedly submitted around $45,000 in fraudulant Medicaid receipts over a three-year period, according to investigators with the state Attorney General's Office.
Lisa E. Lewis, 40, of Naples, was also named in the affidavit and arrested Friday morning.
According to the affidavit, between 2005 and 2007, Timmer and Lewis used their Naples business, Collier Connections, Inc., to file false Medicare receipts and keep the reimbursed money. In interviews with clients, employees and Medicare staff, investigators learned Timmer and Lewis often didn't provide the services they had promised, but still filed Medicare claims, the affidavit said.
Some of the receipts conflicted with one another by listing one-on-one services to multiple recipients at the same time but different locations, according to the document. Other receipts were submitted when Timmer and Lewis were clocked-in for work at Collier County Parks and Recreation, the affidavit said.
Sandi Copes, a spokeswoman for the Attorney General's Office, said that while investigators only have record of around $45,000 of fraud, they estimate the actual amount is closer to $80,000.
Collier Connections, Inc., is listed as inactive since 2007 in the state Division of Corporations database. Its principal address is Lewis' Naples home, and the business is registered to Timmer.
The Attorney General's Office is charging Timmer and Lewis with multiple felony counts of grand theft and medicaid fraud, according to the affidavit.
Both remain in jail, Timmer in Lee County and Lewis in Collier County.

cood County Mental Health got tagged for the same thing a few years ago. Actually watching them go through it made me feel some better. Services did get applied after that.
I see alot of resentment about people on medicaid and what it costs so I am actually glad to see fraud get busted.
However; you thinkthey could do the same investigation on companies like Haliburton, or ADM, I would venture to say there has been a whole lot more than 80 grand skimmed off the top.

This is certainly nothing new. Several years ago,a doctor in Chicago was arrested for submitting fraudulent bills to Medicare for nonexistent patients and double billing for existing patients. One would think that the morons who administer Medicare would have a system in place to detect fraud, especially double billing! I'm certain that fraud flourishes because so few are apprehended and there's tons of money to be made by crooks.

Hello,
I'm the reporter who wrote this article, and I'm trying to learn more about Collier Connections and Mr. Timmer and Ms. Lewis.
In particular, I'd like to do a story about the people who were defrauded, but I'm having trouble finding them. Bluefrogflyer, I think it'd be helpful if I could talk with you, even if you were a former client and not a victim.
If you don't mind, maybe you could give me a call or shoot me an email. My info is listed below.
Many thanks, Steve Beardsley
