Well I believe to our psyche it would be most important to get what we are wanting for. Getting what we need is of course the practical aspect of it. When you break it down we have few needs, but many wants

You know the answer to that....but I'll validate you... Getting what we need. Always more important. Put it out there to the universe and pray for your highest and best. What we want...is not always the smartest thing for us to have. So....if you try sometimes you just might find.....

Getting what we need is more important...but getting what we want often times seems more important.

To echo earlier sentiments...
Often, we throw our energies into getting what we want, only to find out that in the process, we failed to secure what we need.
Together, wants and needs are not unlike a ham sandwich. Sometimes, you really want that juicy slice of red tomato, some crisp lettuce, and a myriad of condiments...but if you neglect the bread and ham, you'll still not get the nourishment you need.

Thank you for the opinions. Me, I'm always at least contemplating higher thought even if my lower self sometimes prevails. Simply, for me, there is really no difference between the two- I am the same if I lack either. Wants for me ARE needs, if happiness and wholeness mean anything at all.

Getting what we want fullfills about 90% of our needs. So, I'll go with the want.

There is a song that comes to mind---Garth Brookes, "I Thank God For Unanswered Prayers."
A young man has to have this girl, he wants her, he needs her, his world will end if he doesn't have her, his world will be fulfilled forever if he gets her. He doesn't get her. Years later, with his wife and kids by his side he sees the woman, still lovely, but by his wife's side he knows, ergo the song tile.

Want - assuming that you want, is what you need. Trouble is,,,, I don't really "Need" most of the things I want. And I don't really "WANT", most of the things I need. I guess I will follow that Mike Cross song,,,, "The Lord will Provide, The Lord will Provide."

Of course my friend is always getting what we need.................. what we want............life would be too simple..........what we all wanted...........life is a struggle so that we can learn and appreciate what we have.........so what we need.........to get by is.........essential.....what we want ........we hope and pray for the best..........

Sometimes what we want and what we need are lucky enuff to be the same thing. Take love for example, It's a perfect example. We want it and need it too. It's a part of life to feel fullfulled and happy. Without it, we feel depressed and always searching for something that's missing in our lives. Just a thot. tc Lost

I wonder if we truly had needs met or found, if wants would be an issue. Wants can be seen as a luxury if we call them wants. People tend to put limitation on their wants like they are not wothy. At the root of that is most likely needs being overlooked. Needs to me, are internal... wants, on the other hand, are external. Nothing wrong or to be evaluated with satisfying both. The mistake I've made is not recognizing the foundation (needs) before determining wants... So which is more important... good question. "At the end of the day" we should all ask ourselves what we are building on. Thanks for provoking thought!

Getting what we need of course! Seriously, it might get confusing sometimes because we realize a want is really a need especially when it hasn't been attended to in a while.
