Five years ago today a very pregnant mass of matted black hair and short legs bounded out of a travel kennel in the parking lot of the shelter and into my lap and my heart. I knew that my foster shih tzu was arriving that day, along with 20 others, from another shelter and I knew she was pregnant. What I didn't know was that it would be love at first site for both of us. My friend, who also happened to be my boss, had picked one specifically for me that matched Sophie. I knew as soon as I saw Nonie that when she was available for adoption I was keeping her....in the meantime she joined our family that day and never left.

She was 8 years old when she bounded into my life and today she is happily celebrating her 13th birthday.... ....or in her words....CAKE DAY..... Yes, she will have a cake and get to blow out her candles. She was ecstatic yesterday when Skin's middle daughter arrived....she is Nonie's special 'sister'....and even more overjoyed that she spent the night. I am not sure who was in the bed first Nonie or Skin's daughter....I do know that Nonie was glued to her all evening while we watched tv and talked. Hmmmmm....I hope she doesn't think this is her birthday present and that she gets to keep her....
