Brett Favre. This man left the game of football at the height of his game, and on a high note. Too bad he couldn't leave well enough alone. When the Packers not only wished him well in his retirement, but moved on without him, it was too much for him to take. He wanted back in as quarterback, or failing that, wanted to be released from his contract to seek a position elsewhere. Not only that, he cant decide whether or not he "actually" wants back in. He told the Packers he did, but when they greeted his return, he changed his mind. Now he's changed it yet again. The Packers have better things to do than play Bretts' game. An unofficial poll of 3000 was taken here in Wisconsin yesterday. 48% said let him back in, but "just" to trade him. 41% said "no way", we have our new quarterback. 12% just didn't care. Brett needs to learn from other sports notables that gracefully made the adjustment from sports hero to retiree. The saying "aging gracefully" applies to everyone, not just the general public. It applies to you as well Brett.

It is an ego thing that almost ALL pro athletes that were stars have. It is hard to give up the cheers of the fall Sunday Afternoons. It is like a drug and highly addictive. He has been though a lot, I wish him well.

You know there isn't a city in the US that supports their team like Green Bay. It's a great football town. Having said that, I think Brett Farve is one of the toughest quarterbacks of all time and most durable. As far as being one of the greats, I'd say he's always been a little overrated. He throws way too many interceptions and his decision making reminds me of a rookie at times. I know about all the records but with his longevity and durability, it's only logical he'd break cumulative records.
I think he's in for a horrible situation if he returns. If he comes back to the Packers he'll create a hell for their present starter and an instant controversy.
In a way, it sort of disgusts me that these people can't just walk away gracefully. They've lived a charmed and privilidged life for the most part. It's almost like they can't bare the fact, they might actually be a regular citizen, without the applause for once in their lives. Maybe I'm too harsh on him UB

nah.... not too harsh on him blogger.... it's like cookie said, they are so used to the limelight that they don't know how bow out. Like the last curtain of a play, the actors keep coming out for that "one more encore" . Once he made his decision to leave, He should have exited gracefully.....

It can be pride or ego that taunts him to get back in the game but I think its nothing but a 38 year old professional that doesnt want to deal with the fact that he is an old man that wants to play a young mans game. He will be far more put down then he feels right now after being welcomed back, but not as the starting QB if he does come back as the starter and doesnt win the Superbowl. He said it himself when he "retired". "If I make it one more year in this league and dont win the Superbowl,Ive accomplished nothing."

perhaps the great ones put so in much of themselves to achieve greatness, that they fail to also live. if football was also his hobby (what he did in his spare time), he has nothing to do when he gives up his sport, no hobby to enjoy in his idle time. besides, few look-up-to stamp collectors, gardners, or other hobbyists. think he probably realizes now, that he is just another guy, not THE GUY.

Farve is starting do I say it...is being a cancer in that Packer locker room. How many times do the coaching staff have to change their plans because the guy can't make up his mind. I love Favre and what he did for the sport....but make up your damn mind already!
