Here in Michigan there is full court press on crime. Yep, criminals beware your time has come. Smoke, drink or switch lanes without a turn signal your ass is grass.
Meanwhile the pedophile's, dope dealers, robbers, crack heads, rapists roam the streets. 162 violent crimes per day and were legislating and busting the insignificant. Michigan arrested 50,000 drunk drivers in 2007 in which less then 10% would be considered actually to drunk to drive. Odd, 68% of the murders in 2007 were unsolved. 6,270 raped, 14,270 robberies but don't you dare light up in a bar.
Humm, were do these priorities come from? Why have we given up on the hard core criminals I ask. You don't dare drive car in Michigan past 11:00 p.m. after a couple beers cause you'll find your ass in the clink. Dealing drugs on the street corner, you'll be fine.
What's going on gang? I'm actually becoming afraid to go out at night and socialize. Soon I may not be able to strike up a good cigar at the local pub. The police are all over the place ticketing minor traffic offenses.
No doubt the ACLU, defense attorney's and sympathetic juries have rendered police ineffective in dealing with violent crime. The system for lack of better words simply don't care anymore. Many of these hard core criminals are back on the street before the paper work is even processed hence, can you blame those with in the system for a nonchalant attitude.
Profit, more profit in busting a drinking driver, traffic offender, etc. then a violent criminal. Frankly, a hard core criminal probably has more rights. Seriously, how did we get here gang. Why can legislators pass strict laws on smoking but we can't seem to keep violent criminals off the streets?
Who's running the country? special interest groups. Look at who's been funding Barack Obama's campaign mostly. Special interest, far left, radical environmentalist groups. Where the f*** is our priorities? How much money do these groups expend at protecting little Johnny's right to wear a dress to school then protecting your fundamental right to be freaken safe in your homes, safe in the schools and safe on the streets.
Our legislators focus on the trivial while the significant has no consideration. They smother the 1% with rights while ignoring the 99%. In correct lane change in Florida, California and Georgia $380.00 fine. An estimated 6.4 billion dollars a year are collected in traffic fines each year.
In closing,
The data doesn't lie. We punish the harmless while the insidious profit. Your better off being busted with cocaine then having a couple beers and driving. Were more worried about who's smoking in a bar then who's raping our children. More police with radar on then investigating who stole your car.

I believe it has to with the county you live in. Here in Ottawa they are tough on crime. Hell, they just solved a cold case from 1979...then you can go to Grand Rapids-Kent county and they just seem to want money instead of handing out hard time. And Ottawa and Kent are both republican counties....so how is liberals ruining things again?

Gents: Don't blame the police for tactics of your mayor or city council. It is like in the animal kingdom. The slow and weak become the dinner of the bears and wolves.
The easies prey are the traffic violators. the others belong to to the rich and elite. Drugs--where do you think they come from? I hope you do not think some dumb ass who works the corner is going to a major city or to Columbia or some other country to get his product. Also, every black man or Mexican driving an expensive car is a drug dealer. Some people actually work for a living.
Who do you blame--yourself--for you voted for the people that are running your community or you do not go to town meetings and express your opinion.

I want you do yourself a favor. From the 60's to now which cities have lost a major portion of there population then look at the political makeup. In the near future Chicago is expected to look much like Detroit.
I'll give you a clue. Wherever liberalism takes hold soon after failure ensues.

Don't blame the police for tactics of your mayor or city council I agree but why? are they corrupt or just trying to pay the bills. Look at Michigan's huge special interest costs. Welfare, unions, etc. In my opinion the liberals, unions and special interests have created a economic situation that all of Michigan is going to pay for.

Having lost a friend to a drunk driver I don't object to that part, drunk driving is a violent crime. But I do agree that violent criminals don't get treated with the severity they deserve. A few years back the Detroit police said a full 25% of murders could be traced to a person on a parole or early release from a previous violent crime. Now that's only 25% that they can prove, I'll bet the real number is 80 - 90%+. Stop parole, stop violent crime. My own pet pieve is short sentences for 'attempted murder', the only difference between a murderer and an attempted murderer is that one is better with a weapon than the other, so we let them out again for a second chance? They are still a danger to society.
