So I played hockey Monday and Yesterday night... It's a solid 3 1/2 hours of playing time over 2 days... (That's a lot for those of you that have never strapped a set of Ginsu blades to your feet and swung wildly at a piece of rubber with a stick for any amount of time.) This morning I woke up and did NOT want to go to work. Here is why;

My left calf hurts. I had a cramp Tuesday morning, but it's mostly the slap shot I took to the back side of my leg. (Not gonna stop playing)
My left ankle hurts. I've twisted it twice now and it never really healed. (Not gonna stop playing)
My right bicep hurts. I ran into the boards attempting to stop a puck being passed up the boards and kind of hit it funny. (Not gonna stop playing)
My right hand hurts. I can't tell you exactly where because it's just a dull ache. I can't tell you why because I've done way too many stupid things with my hands playing hockey to know which one to blame. (Not gonna stop playing)
My left shoulder hurts. Somebody pulled my skates out from under me on Monday and I landed on it kind of funny. (Not gonna stop playing)
My lower rib cage on my right side hurts. I ran into the post trying to stuff a shot in and banged it up a little. (Not gonna stop playing)
The inside of my left thigh hurts. A shot got in between my pads on my breezers and made a pretty good bruise about 4 inches below my nuts. (That one made me think about not playing anymore)
My left forearm hurts. That probably happened when I broke my stick on Monday. (Stopped thinking about stopping playing.)
My spleen hurts. Could have been any one of 100 instances where I did something stupid there. (What? Quit? Me? NEVER!)

But the part that hurts the most on me is my pride. Yesterday I bought a new hockey stick. It's a composite stick, so it's stronger, lighter, and more flexible than wood sticks. (and more expensive.) After taping it up just the way I liked it and proudly bringing it out on the ice I promptly found out that the blade is COMPLETELY different from my old stick... It was EMBARRASSINGLY bad, as I couldn't get a single shot over ankle height. (Bought a slightly-open with a heel curve, should have stayed with an open with a mid curve.)

So at the end of the night when everyone else was skating off the ice a couple of the younger guys decided to see if they could put the puck over the net from the opposite blue line with a wrist shot. Seeing as I had this wonderful new stick that should have improved my game to an amazing level, I decided to give it a shot. I stepped into a shot with all my might and proceeded to wrist the puck about... oh... roughly... 15 feet. (That's not alot... at all.) After claiming vehemently that it was a mistake, I tried again... Same result.

Can I still play hockey with no pride?
