Why is it when people want to have an honest communication with someone, conduct business with others, or some sort of honest interaction, including meeting new people and making new friends, spammers and scammers must ruin it for everyone?
I will not name the name of any services, but nobody is perfect. Any software or site that is developed is only as good as the individual or entity that develops it. And that also keeps the individual or entity on their toes, because someone will attempt to compromise it; giving the individual or entity to make improvements.
Back to the actual point of “I’ll give it….”, what makes these spammers and scammers think that just because you do (a) not have a profile, (b) have a profile, (c) a profile without a picture or (d) a profile with a picture, that their topics are going to entice you any more than the other scenarios? I mean, if you see any of the following:
Topic 1: HI, I seen your profile, and ……
Topic 2: Hi, I seen your profile and picture, and ….
Topic 3: Hi, I seen your profile (s*amer input)….
Well, you get the idea. When I see this, or anything similar I usually just ignore it. Sure, there may be 1 in 1,000,000,000 that are actually honest, but again the scammers and spammers ruin it for everyone. Grammar is another thing, and I will admit I am far from perfect when it comes to grammar, but here is a topic I laughed at when I seen it:
Quote, from an actual topic, “i need to chat with u to know u better“.
You know that’s fake, I looked at the letter, and guess what? It’s fake. They only want you to send them your e-mail (by writing them) so they can collect it so that they (a) spam you more (b) scam you (c) sell a list of address to make money (d) all of the above.
A site that I was a member of for several years (actively used it for maybe 5 days before I stopped due to spammers, scammers and advertisers,) joined again because I met a wonderful woman, and that is the only reason why I deal with it – but man do I get spam from time to time (more or less than other days but that’s not even close to the point).
E-Mail services, again I will not say any names because the chances are, you have the same membership with them as I, experience the same problems even though they’ve promised you next to no spam (98%, 99%, 100%, 99.9%, etc., you know the deal) and never deliver. Sometimes I am glad and beyond happy that I run my own servers and services, have my own .COM, email, etc., and get no spam at all—not going to say how, advertise the address, etc., but it’s disgusting how ignorant people think they can get away with things.
OK, you can spoof your e-mail address, the URL, among other things – but the topics such as $3ll ur$lf 4 a$ mvck a$ 4000 a m0n1h!” will not entice anyone to go to your site. Even if you had enough intelligence to come up with something better, the chances are, most people will not fall for it. Credit Card Scams (CCS) is becoming widely known and people are just not falling for it as much as 5 years ago, or 10 years ago. I can spoof my IP, DNS, MAC address, email, etc., I choose not to because it’s illegal, unlawful and it’s just plain flat out rude and wrong; plus the jail term for it is not worth it. And even if you can spoof your system, the network, etc., you can still be tracked down. Oh yeah, another thing, you can be tracked down – sometimes it’s harder than other times, so don’t think that manipulating the subject line helps avoid getting caught; you can get caught and will eventually get caught.
The one subject I mentioned about $3ll ur$lf, etc., they use that similar slang (elite) to sell Viagra (I could go on that topic but won’t,) prescription drugs, and other stuff; do not trust nor believe these people. If you’re a smoker, I can tell you where you can get 10 cartons of cigarettes for $50.00 without taxes, just add S&H (but won’t, for two reasons: it does not exist, and it’s most likely illegal) I can tell you though, what you pay for a carton anywhere virtually, you can get four for the same price, but I will not tell you where so don’t contact me. (truth is there, if you don’t believe me, oh well.)
But my question in all honesty is, why is it that those scammers and spammers must ruin everyone is? I remember when Yahoo! was at one point safe to use their chat rooms; their email was not all that bad, now it’s a poor service. Google is OK, but their email according to friends has gotten out of hand (more or less like Yahoo!) and MSN Hotmail (Microsoft Hotmail) I cannot tell you how long it’s been since I’ve had a membership with them, even though I got the Microsoft Office Live Basics; the spam is insane there too. (footnote: SOME PROTECTION!)
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I came here to actually meet people, many I do not wish to judge as I do not wish to be judged. I would love to interact with people, communicate with people, share the same interests, and perhaps meet people in person. But these scammers and spammers, and the mind *cough* won’t say, sorry for the cough, makes it hard for anyone to believe anyone on the internet.
NOW, I must add from that last paragraph; I’ve seen people that are anti-internet relationship turn otherwise after, before or during knowing me, and hearing my view of it. This is my philosophy, “The internet is almost the same as meeting someone in person, offline and in reality in a supermarket, a mall, a ballpark, a park or whatever with the same consequences, limitations and restrictions; sometimes more or less than otherwise.” Many people have met someone online and regretted it more than someone offline, some have regretted more of an offline version verses an online version of a story.
It also seems that everyone has the same entry to their profile (“I am a sincere, happy, easy going, etc.”) which almost sounds like a robot surfing the internet entering the same (or variations of) profiles all over. I see it this way, to know someone, is to learn someone, to learn someone, is to give someone (your time) and vice-versa; a relationship and friendship have one thing in common (it goes both ways,) and each must be there and take care of each other—if one cannot, make up for it later. I am going to stop with this and maybe make a part 2 later in the future. I like to write sometimes but not all of the time, but I am fed up with the scammers and spammers (and I am starting to fall asleep at the keys, so I am starting to lose my train of thought.)
