My dog and I are currently fighting. She hates my taste in music which primarily consists of acoustic guitars. Every time I put a record or cd in she begins with he pitiful cries as though I am torturing her. I got a few new cds from a band called gunshy(amazing) with in seconds she begin with the howling.
I bought a plastic recorder from goodwill not that long ago, figuring it would bring back memories of woebegone days of the third grade. I also figured I would try to brush up on the clarinet, because well they are accentually the same thing. She despises that also. So what this all boils down to I am banished to listening to my music in a car. And my side project to be the first professional recorderist is down the drain too. I have been trying to introduce some kind culture into this household and she firmly rejects it. I have a sneaking suspicion she maybe a top 40's fan. I have massive guilt for raising a Ryan Seacrest fan.

I laughed so hard when I read this! My dog does not mind my taste in music... which is Blues...but he DOES start the pitiful whiney thing when I talk on my cell phone. He hates that...as soon as it rings, he gives me "that look" that says don't even THINK about answering that. My friends and family can hear him in the background and all have asked at one time or other if there was a baby crying in the house. But lately he tries to "talk" over me speaking on the phone..its hilarious to hear, and far better than that pitiful whiney thing... Has your dog heard "Isis" or "Sara"?....I think maybe you might try the "Desire" cd...lol...

Get the Pink Floyd album called "Meddle" A very relaxing album with a song called "Shamus", sung by a real dog.

Are you sure those are "I hate your music" cries instead of her attempt to "sing" along? I used to have a dog that did the howling thing everytime you played music. Then she would bark at you when you turned it off, untill you turned the music back on. Then she would start the howling again. It was her way of singing. LOL

I read your blog about the dog whining and I really got a chuckle out of it . I myself have a delema where my big black cat STITCH carries on meowing for me to turn the radio on each night so we can listen to COAST TO COAST . She loces listening to George , But the problem is he doesn,t come on till midnight . I swear she can understand the conversations about aliens and stuff. She finally gets tired and desides she is ready for bed. I have recently got her going with this commercial with Dolly Paton singing , I start dancing and singing and she just looks up at me like OH NO SHE,S CRACKING UP LOL. Animals are not stupid by any means . Your dog may just have the desire to just sing with you. Try it sing togeather , Its a bonding thing perhaps . They are little wonders aren,t they ?

I hate Bob Dylan too, so I reckon the dogs pretty smart. I went to one of his concerts last year to keep someone company and I felt like crying too.
