Most of us are perched on a ledge, a golden thread millimeters thick, connects your side of the chasm to the other side. That side is obscured by a fine mist. We don't know what is on the other side. Is it life changing? It could most certainly be. Will we welcome it? It depends on what it is. Can it hurt us? Most definitely! Because even in joy, there is pain. Then the mist parts a bit, and you catch a flash of the other side and know beyond a shadow of a doubt that happiness is there for you.
But you look at the thread. It’s fragile, tiny, how can it hold your weight? If you step on it, you'll die from a fall. But if you don't step on it, you'll die inside, never knowing the happiness you saw.
It’s a terrifying decision, this leap of faith. Your eyes and brain just KNOW that you will fall. Your heart isn't so sure.
If you listen to your heart and take that first step, it will make that golden thread stronger than steel. It could hold a thousand people at a time and not break. In fact, it will get even stronger.
So, you close your eyes and walk out onto it. It holds! As you start crossing, the mist slowly envelops you. With faith, you continue on until............
May we all have the strength and faith to take that first step towards happiness.
