Satellites the most accurate way to measure sea ice started in 1979. As of 7/24/2008 the arctic ice concentration is at the same level it was in 1979, 10.9 million square kilometers. Antarctic ice concentration up 36.3%. The current arctic temperature as of 4:00 a.m. 21 degrees fahrenheit live stream.
The 2007 - 2008 average arctic temperature is currently one of the coldest on record. Hurricane activity for the North Atlantic over the past 4 years has yet to live up to Al Gore's ridiculous and self-serving prophecies. In short, the world is being bamboozled.
All the current credible data and historical data indicates we are experiencing nothing new in climate. Al Gore and like are nothing more then modern day hair tonic salesmen. No different then deceitful religious leaders who prophetize end times for profit.
In closing,
Al Gore and like play off those who have difficult lives. They utilize and offer those struggling in life an opportunity to strike back so to say. They present nor provide any actual proof but for the suffering and less fortunate it doesn't matter. These people are looking for excuses for there miserable life which often doesn't include looking in the mirror.
How many democrats, liberals, etc. get elected by pointing the finger rather then by encouraging self-analysis, all of them.

I tend to agree in theory. However there is credible evidence on *both* sides of this issue, and it is in all of our interests to take the "possibility" seriously. Taking the easy way out and ignoring the possibility that we "could" be affecting the climate is irresponcible, but on the other hand, what does it hurt for us all to play it a bit more safe when it comes to our environment? I mean there ARE over 6 billion of us now... You are probably right about us being "bamboozeled", and Gore is a bit hypocritical by driving around in big SUVs and still harping on us about global warming. BUT what does it hurt to go on and try to reduce our "footprints", just in case?
Good post, and very thought provoking!

I just heard on the news yesterday that Al Gore has made millions with his appearances and books on Global warming as well, doesn't that just get your goat? It does mine, making money from people on theories are not even true, when he himself doesn't believe the world is in such danger because he doesn't follow his own suggestions. I'm in Tennessee and he is the worse offender of pollution, we all know this. I just can't stand people that preach and live in glass houses. tc Lost

credible evidence on *both* sides of this issue Yeah where? there is no credible evidence of "man made global warming". Does the planet warm and cool from time to time naturally, yes it does.

Al Gore is a wanker. He is intelligent enough to derive a huge belly laugh off of the general public that buy into his global warming scare tactics and in the process make huge amounts of income from all the lemmings that bow to his fairy tales. Dorian and you are correct in just the simple logic of being conscience stewards of our environment. Where I live, in Montana, hunters and loggers are our logical environmentalists and are hated by the extreme "green" movement. How can a hunter continue hunting is they do not protect and preserve what God and nature has provided? How can loggers keep logging if they do not protect in the same fashion. But, logic be damned, we have these Berkley academic idiots telling us we are the problem. Oooops, that might have been a rant, sorry.

True global warming is nothing more than the earth tilting slightly on its axis where the U.S. is much closer to the equator.
I don't think we should be asking whether the polar ice caps are melting, but rather where they are located (I'm assuming there would be a shift in ice cap location on account of the axis change).
Also, we are contributing under 10% to any global warming statistics. The rest is a result of natural causes- volcanoes, geysers, and escaping gases from underground.
Since Al Gore lives in a mansion that uses 4 times the gas that the average house uses I refuse to listen to his hypocracy. After all, didn't he also once claim to be the father of the internet?
