Thanks to all of you who have sent ecouragement and requests for updates on my precious little grandson. I just got back from visiting baby Christopher and he is doing very well! It seems that whatever the doctors think will be a challenge for him is a piece of cake. He now weighs 2 lbs. 9oz. and is off of the ventilator as of this afternoon. Actually, he pulled the vent out himself for the third time, so they went ahead and put him on CPAP earlier than planned. There were no ill effects whatsoever and they are talking about removing that little bit of support tomorrow as he doesn't seem to need any help. He is getting milk from his mommy via a feeding tube and should be off of all extra fluids in the next couple of days. Now, all he has left to do is grow and get stronger. His five year old brother surprised me today by telling me that he and his Daddy would say a boy's prayer for little Christopher before they visited and his Mommy and I could say a girl's prayer for him. I thought that was so cute. Christopher's parents got to hold him for the first time last night and he cooed for them. Today they heard him cry for the first time...it was much louder than any of them expected. Oh, and he's out of the micro preemie diapers into the regular preemie ones. I guess I'm sharing this with you because I've never been witness to a real miracle before and I am utterly in awe. There surely must be a purpose for this little miracle to be on this earth.
