Vince put on a great performance, and when it came down to his last set of songs, he sang a song that petrified me.. I heard Lori sobbing next to me, and I reached over and grabbed her hand asking her what was wrong. She was finally able to lean into me; telling me that it was the same song that she had played at her husband, Marty’s funeral Oh God!! It was a great song although not studio recorded, but still gave me a feeling of sadness. It was then that I broke down shedding my last tears with Lori.
The next day, I bought the CD that had the song on it, and drove back to Lorie’s home. She was watering flowers in the Back yard when I arrived, but after telling her I wanted her to listen to something we quickly went into her home, and I slipped the CD into the player turning up the volume.
I remember turning around, and walking up to her taking her into my arms holding her tight. She looked puzzled, but when the music started playing she immediately began weeping, and clung tightly to me.
After the song, I gently kissed her, and told her “You have to move forward” I then said nothing, and walked out, and went home. I think I cried all the way.. Sixty miles worth.
This is the song..A powerful, but sad song…Give it a listen.
