So monday I decided it was high time to finally use the bathtub reglazing kit I bought a few years ago. I'm on vacation this week so if I miss a few showers who will notice. On the box it says it takes 72 hours for the glaze to cure....for crying out loud, we can send a man to the moon...
So I did the job and naturally got pretty nasty and sweaty doing it, but I only have the one bathroom. Even though I had hoped to put it off til morning, it was 85 degrees that day so I had no choice, got out a bucket and some no rinse (used by the astronauts!) and cleaned up.
It's not bad, a 90% kind of thing, not as clean feeling as a shower but better than stewing in my own juices and I kind of smell like an airliner after the cleaning crew is done with it. Tuesday the same thing, 3 times. I got up, worked out and later did more work around the house.
Today I decided to regrout the bathroom, an efficient use of time, I thought, since the grout has to wait for 24 hrs before it can be gotten wet therefore the grout and glaze should be ready for service at the same time. Unfortunately, even though the tub has been curing for 48 hours it's still a little soft and the towel I laid down to protect it left little towel marks on the glaze. No biggie, it's on the bottom and hardly noticable but it makes me wonder, will it be ready to use tomorrow? I'm sticky and tired of sponge baths.
