I have finally gotten all of my things here at Kendall's house and I'm starting to settle in nicely. Of course his house is basically under construction, he has gutted the whole thing and is remodeling it room by room. He uses the weekends when he is home to start a new project or continue the last one that he left off with.
This past weekend was no different.....he had different exterior doors that he wanted to put on the house. The front door was simple...just take the existing door out and replace it. The back door required the frame to be replaced so he called over the friend, Jim, that I used to live with to help him. It was to be a 2 hour job at the most that started about 3 pm on Friday.....they are still working at it right now and it's almost 5 pm Monday.
All I did was ask one simple question.........Are you going to put a window on the back porch?
The next thing I know walls are coming down, ceilings are collapsing, there are 3 more men in the back yard and rotten wood piling up around the one flower that I have growing at the side of the house. Seems once they started looking at where they were going to position the window they discovered that most of the wall on the back porch was rotten and would need to eventually come down......so they decided why not now.......OMG
By 9 pm Friday I had a wall frame, the door was installed and the window put in but no actual wall. They tacked plywood over the doorway into the house for the night and started back in on it Saturday morning. By Sat. night I had a wall and they were making plans to remove the other outside wall. Kendall had to make a run Sunday so they started this afternoon on the second wall.
It's almost complete as I am typing this and I do realize that they probably would have come to that decision anyway but I have learned my lesson....never ask any remodeling questions when men have power tools at their disposal.

OMG, you're so LUCKY!!! I've had to fight for every little thing that I want...and that's been with hired help as well as "volunteers".
~sigh~ It seems guys like the idea of a woman's touch -- unless it's working on the woman's house.
I'm so happy for you, Cartay...truly!
