It started at 2 am Friday morning when my son called to say he was headed to the ER and wanted me to meet him there. He had gotten a tattoo on Aug 11th and was allergic to the colored inks which had started an infection and cellulitis in his lower leg and foot. After 3 trips to the ER for IV antibiotics he went in the 4th time and this time they admitted him.......it turns out the cultures came back and it was a staph infection. They have kept him on IV antiobiotics all weekend and should be able to go home Monday but all of the skin that was tattooed has died and is coming off. So far he has lost almost 2 weeks of work and may have to stay off for another week. He has no insurance so we are hoping that the hospital's charity program will pay for his stay and follow up treatments.

Friday night Kendall took me out to get something to eat and we were able to see the Budweiser Clydesdales pulling their wagon thru town to make local beer deliveries. The horses are huge and it was a wonderful sight.

On Saturday my son was doing better so some friends talked us into going with them to see the NHRA World Series of Drag Racing. I got to see Nitro Funny cars, Wheelie cars, Dragsters, Outlaw stock cars and Jet cars with 30 foot flames coming out of the back of them...........OMG. They had to close down the highway behind the race track everytime the jet cars took off. We were in the front row of the bleachers less than 30 yards from the burn out box and starting line. It was loud and smelly but I had a great time.

Today Kendall had to go back out and he called me this afternoon with the news that the company he drove for up by Chicago wants him to come back and work for them. It pays $18 hourly for 10 hour days 5 days a week. Here he is making less than $12 hourly and barely works 3 days a week. It would mean moving about 3 hours away and I would probably have to leave my dog with my son and his friends although we would be coming back every other weekend to work on the house and visit friends and family.

I have to be back at the hospital by 5:45 am tomorrow so that I am there when the doctor comes in between 6 & 7 to find out for sure if he can go home and what he will need to do. It has been a long , exhausting , stressful and exciting weekend and there is a lot of things I have to think about. I haven't had much sleep the last few days and I am pretty sure that the next few nights aren't going to be any better.
