When I moved to my residence last year, things were really a mess. That's to be expected under the circumstances. However, when summer came and I wanted to make my vegetable soup, I could not locate my pressure cooker. I use it primarily for chili. I have a special recipe that I found many years ago called "DAMN GOOD CHILI". Yes, that is its name!! Anyway, it was driving me crazy where that darn pot went! It's huge! Not like it's some small pan lost in the cupboards. I checked everywhere - all the closets, all my cupboards, even under the beds (I do use that area for storage). I don't know how many times I went thru everything in the garage. That's a disaster area out there - I'm still sorting thru my deceased mom's things, and perhaps my pot got into the garage somehow? No, not there.
Then last evening I visited my oldest son and his family for dinner. I was telling my daughter-in-law my dilemma over losing the "chili pot". She laughed. There was a family chili cookoff at her house last fall, and apparently I left mine behind. She located my chili pot in the bottom of her pantry. I told her how many hours I spent looking for that pressure cooker - how I searched over and over for months. I had completely forgotten about the chili cookoff.
So now the pressure cooker is back in my possession. It's going into a safe place in MY pantry this time! So, was this a senior moment to not recall where it went? Sounds like a good excuse to me. Glad I found it before chili season!!

Hey, atleast she gave it back, I loaned my sister my 45 dollar jumper cables last year and she claimed the mechanic stole them. Yeah, can anyone tell me why I saw those jumper cables in her garage yesterday?!!!!! She said she bought those, mine were stolen. Yeah Right!!!!

At least you had the patience to keep looking and didn't go out to buy one. (Don't even mention the mutliple toilet plungers and drill bits and USB/firewires and glue guns I own...not by design )

Earl”s Damn Good Chili
2 lbs ground beef 1 large onion, chopped 1 large green pepper, chopped 1 8oz can tomato sauce 1 small can tomato paste 1lb fresh mushrooms, cut into quarters 1 can whole tomatoes 8oz. Dry red wine ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper 1-1/2 tablespoon fresh chili powder ½ teaspoon black pepper ¾ teaspoon oregano 1-1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
2or3 cloves garlic, finely chopped 1 teaspoon salt 2 cans pinto or red beans, drained and rinsed
2 whole Jalepeno peppers
Brown ground meat, onion and green peppers in large pot. Add remaining ingredients except for beans. Bring to boil. Cover pot and simmer for 90 minutes. With a wooden spoon cut the jalepeno peppers open and smash the whole tomoatoes. Add beans and continue to simmer for an additional 60 minutes. Chili is now ready to enjoy.
Amounts of spices may be varied to individual tastes. If you like chili that is hotter add more spice and if you wish it to be milder add less spice. May change the taste a lieel but will not ruin the chili.
CAUTION – adding jalepeno peppers will have a tendency to make chili much hotter but is really good in cold weather. Will make your head sweat. J Enjoy
