I too have a passion for the ocean.. any beach.. the sound, the smell, the sight of it.. sitting on the beach after dark, not seeing the breaking waves, but just hearing and feeling the power.. the pull.. it's a spiritual thing..

Have you ever walked in? Clothes on? Shoes quickly absorbing every drop of moisture? Wading out until your shirt clings and flows against your belly?

I prefer unclothed but the jelly fish scare me...

Awesome comes to mind reading this. I love so much but this one line to me personally says it all.
That when it is time to back out of that sinking, pulling, draw of those waves, you have once again decided to live?

Really good stuff there. I always feel the ocean calms my soul, my being. What a gift it is spread before us. ~*~

oh there ya are.

Home is where you take your heart.
You take your heart with ya everywhere ya go.
The greatest moments can be found in the simplest of time.
Like washing dishes with a back ground filled with laughter.

...and the currents will always be there,
waiting to pull you into the lapping folds
of each fierce, yet gentle wave......

Life.

I love the ocean... can't bring myself to go in it. When I go with the kids the entire time I sit scanning the tops of the water and always playing in my mind is the tune we all know so well: du du... du du... da da da da da da da da.. da da daaaaaaaaa

Give me a great lake now... preferably my beloved Lake Erie and you'll never get me out again. Shame I can't stand living there where it's so cold. I have to make due with the scary ocean.

I soooo know about what you say.....

I grew up being able to go to the ocean anytime I wanted....had a cabin on the Oregon coast....

I miss it terribly...and, unless Washington falls off the face of the earth, wont have any ocean front property again....

Is prob why I live on the biggest lake in Idaho.....can still sit on my beach...and listen to the waves....tho on a smaller scale....

Sea-Fever

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by;
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,
And a gray mist on the sea's face, and a gray dawn breaking.

I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull's way and the whale's way, where the wind's like
a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.

I, too, love the ocean.
The great booming sound of the waves hitting shore, watching an ocean storm from the beach...awesome.

Nice! ~*~

i have lived out here on the left coast since the late 70's.....
this weekend i had the pleasure to rescue on of our md members and her son. my reward for this was we saw grey whales yesterday and again this morning as we left the ocean for the straight of juan de fuca and my home in the mountains.

i have always said my life would be complete when i saw whales, yesterday i witnessed that beauty and i an over come......

sorry the only link this has to do with your well written blog is the ocean. it doesn't call to me, but the mountains and trees do. i hear their song when the wind moves through the trees....and lifts me up

thank you for sharing so much of yourself with us...

warm tropical beaches, the crashing surf, deserted islands.....

weeks at sea with no land in sight, the roll and pitch of the ship in rough seas...

all romantic thoughts, fantasies and those flights of fancy give us such relief from daily pressures,

thank you for a momentary relief valve, your escapes take me so far away...

The woods of Michigan call me like that.

I used to ride motorcycles through them on singletracks and
twotracks. Now I ride mountain bikes through them. The similarity
yer unique nature of every place in the woods was mesmerizing.
