It's looking better around here the past 48 hours. There are only a few traffic lights still out due to power lines down. Some take quite awhile to get going, as they are having to uproot the old poles and replace them, then putting up new transformers. It all takes time but tempers are flaring around town.

Don't you know some have yelled they're being neglected because they live in trailers! Yes, a trailer court is upset saying everybody around them has lights but them. Okay, everyone around me has street lights and I don't - but I don't get on tv and yell about it. Some things take awhile when you're in these conditions. There are shelters for these people to use, but they would rather sit there and gripe. I can understand the frustration of being in the dark almost a week now, especially now that the kids returned to school - having get them ready and cleaned up must be a chore! Any household without a tv or game box must certainly be distressed. The kids would have to probably go outside to play - heaven forbid they probably don't know what that means!

Isn't it amazing the generosity displayed in emergency situations? Why can't people do this in everyday life? I've seen so many people open their homes to those without power. We have an asst pastor at our church running an extension cord across a street to his neighbor's home! One lady said all her outlets are full of chargers for cell phones. It's like everybody just pitches in!

I went to the grocery this morning to find the shelves not well stocked at walmart. Perhaps they were shorthanded or maybe trucks not arriving in the area. Whatever the reason, it was hard to believe. There was ample bread and milk, which is a good thing. I noticed lots of peanut butter and pork-n-beans missing - guess people used it lots for their kids in emergency. Forget candles - those things are GONE! Soon everybody will have their power back on and return to re-filling the refrigerators. Many have lost all their food, so replacement is going to be really expensive and a hardship on their budget, stretching it further than before. I feel so sorry for them. I was so fortunate in having power most of the time. I was surely blessed. However, the mess in my yard wasn't much of a blessing other than the fact my trees are still intact.

So that's the update for our area. We're having beautiful weather here now in the upper 70's, lots of sunshine - great time to work in the yards.

Good weather is nice when you need to do a lot of cleaning, especially after the storm that you guys had. Glad everything is getting back to normal.
