After deciding we would adopt Rome, the white German shepherd mix, we really felt for one of his brothers who was also waiting to be homed.
Sylvester, as the foster home had named him, had a very sweet personality, a little more outgoing and adventurous, but a lovely natured dog. He was much bigger than Rome, and black, we thought that having the two of them would be good for eachother, both making their new homes together.
But then the foster lady told us that Sylvester had a bone marrow problem, one that is very common in large breeds, The bones grow too fast too quickly causing inflamation of the bone marrow.
We were not sure what to do at that point. Gregg was very worried about the expence of medication and for how long this problem would be present for. So we decided to take just Rome home and think about it. After discussing Sylvester's problem with a vet, we were assured that the problem would dissapear after he was fully grown, it was only during the growing process. So we called the lady at the foster home and told her the news she was looking forward to hearing, we would have him too.
The first thing we did was change his name to Caesar,
Rome was so pleased to see his brother jumping out of the back of the truck, he showed Caesar around the big field, and invited him in to the pool.
These dogs are amazingly only 9 months old, we know that thier mother was a German shepherd, the father we think may have been a Newfoundland, as Caesar is very big and black and has that kind of face. Either that or crossed with a black elephant!
