I shared a story today with a friend and it made me laugh at the thought of things that happened to me at the hands of my younger but allot bigger brothers ..I thought I would share with you..It was a little over 4 years ago, before my Brother Frankie's injury and before my other Brother Joe passed away April 23 2004.Now most of my life I felt I was different then the rest of my family..they were always a little on the wild side but nope not me..Yet Ive had the nicknames..THE Brat..or THE B*tch as far back that I can remember..The bitch was one of the first things Frankie said when he woke up from the coma when I asked him if he knew who I was...my brothers were forever picking at me..either trying to fix me up with one of there friends or pulling jokes on me like the time I got a long awaited letter and me being short Joe put it on the ceiling fan blades to watch me beg to get it ..and I was always the one that went to school, went to helped others, the one Mom could depend on, could handle emergency's..you know the one with her head on her shoulders unlike my silly brothers. Well I have lived in the city most of my life..not a big city but not the country at all. Moving to the country was such a culture shock to say the least..But getting to walk into the woods see the Butterfly's and streams everyday or just sitting on the river rocks was awesome..yet I was just a little scared to walk to deep into the woods alone but no way were my brothers gonna walk with me. It was a Sunday and nice and cool out just the right weather for a walk but when I went to ask them to go with me I noticed they were hanging out at the mailbox so I being the brat went to see what they were doing and what did I find? a brand new 6 pack of beer, Now My Mom doesn't like drinking at all so used it against them I asked them to walk with me and when they started to say no I started yelling Mom I think you need to get the mail she kept saying mail doesn't come on Sunday..anyway my brothers got beside me ready for our walk..as we were walking, me doing allot of smiling along came a truck full of hunters and all the sudden BOTH my brothers put their arms around me trying to pull me towards them..and I thought aww how sweet..nope not at all because the hunters backed up and one smartass said hey lady next time you wanna bring your work in the woods make sure you wear orange or you might end up getting shot... yup both my brothers started laughing so hard they couldn't even walk..and .me..I think that was the fastest smile that turned into red faced and tears Ive ever had...and after the tears and shame other then feeling like the backwoods hooker..yup I said hooker.. it ended up being a very special memory of my brothers..one I will remember aways

You know the good Lord had to give her an obedient and innocent child after those brothers. But hey, I understand, I was the good one is my family too. But joyous were the days that they ran off to play. I would let them go, just so I could leave the yard and walk around the neighbor and not feel guilty. So I guess I was a little ornery after all because I encouraged them to go.

Reminds me that my brother and I had three younger sisters and we used to play with them like that too. We hung their dolls with a rope several times. They threw the appropiate fits and my brother and I got good laughs out of them. Mama chewed us out but you could tell she wanted to laugh.

I often wonder what it would have been like growing up with siblings. I know many feel it's not a big deal until they get into adult years, then it's like with each passing year you realize the increased importance of family.. despite all the childhood antics, & sibling rivalry of years ago. Good blog!
