Hello to all in MD Land! And a happy first day of Autumn as well! It was a BEAUTIFUL day here in Wisconsin, with a high of 80 in Ripon, under sunny skies & a light breeze. Life is chugging along @ a consistent pace for me. Work is steady, the bills are getting paid, I have a roof over my head, a great church family, & wonderful friends here on MD. I am blessed.

Some of you may remember me talking about my elderly aunt & uncle earlier in the Summer. Well, my aunt, about 6 weeks ago, had a really bad episode with her dementia & became violent. She ended up in the hospital for a week, & it was then that social services told my uncle that she would not be coming home. She is now in the nursing home in Ripon, & is adjusting very well, & is aware of why she's there. Her first 2 weeks however were a bit rough & confusing for her.

In closing, I'd like to share a couple of inspirational emails I received recently. One is called "The Buzzard, The Bat, & The Bumblebee" & the other is called "The Garbage Truck Rule".....
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Buzzard, the Bat, & the Bumblebee

THE BUZZARD:
If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6 feet by 8 feet and is
entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will
be an absolute prisoner. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a
flight from the ground with a run of 10 to 12 feet. Without space to
run, as is its habit, it will not even attempt to fly, but will remain a
prisoner for life in a small jail with no top.

THE BAT:
The ordinary bat that flies around at night, a remarkable nimble
creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place. If it is placed
on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle about helplessly
and, no doubt, painfully, until it reaches some slight elevation from
which it can throw itself into the air.
Then, at once,it takes off like a flash.

THE BUMBLEBEE:
A bumblebee, if dropped into an open tumbler, will be there
until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape
at the top, but persists in trying to find some way out through the
sides near the bottom. It will seek a way where none exists, until it
completely destroys itself.

PEOPLE:

In many ways, we are like the buzzard, the bat, and the
bumblebee. We struggle about with all our problems and frustrations,
never realizing that all we have to do is look up!

Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around, But faith looks up!

Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly and
trust in our Creator who loves us.

Garbage Truck Rule

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were
driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a
parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his
breaks, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches!
The driver of
the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My
taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he
was really
friendly. So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy
almost ruined
your car and sent us to the hospital!' This is when my taxi
driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'
He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run
around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of
anger, and full
of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a
plac e to
dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take
it personally. Just smile , wave, wish them well, and move
on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at
work, at home , or on the streets. The bottom line is that
successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their
day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning
with regrets, so... 'Love the people who treat you right.
Pray for the ones who don't.' Life is ten percent what you
make it and ninety percent how you take it!

I am hoping your Aunt will adjust and like her new home.

I loved this blog....... I am going to share it with a few friends.

And it is wonderful here today and is also cool, sunny and a wonderful breeze. I have all my windows open and sitting here looking out at my back yard and feeling the breeze and Rufus Puppy sleeping beside me.

Yes, we are blessed. Sometimes we forget and complain. It is nice to have a little reminder like this.

Kind of like the cross in my pocket, that an acquaintance gave me while chatting in the grocery store one day awhile back.

Have a really wonderful day!

WSOR,

Gone are the days in the height of the green summer days as autumn ushers in leaves of the maples and birches which will soon turn into gorgeous hues of red and gold and orange. It’s still early in the autumn yet, so none of the leaves had turned brown and started to rot on the sidewalks within me surroundings but the temperature has dropped a few degrees. Still I can’t wait for what autumn brings. I can’t wait for all the leaves bright and colourful, looking more alive than any other season. I can’t wait for the air warm enough to wear a light jacket. I can’t wait for the air crisp and the wind which carries a refreshing chill. And, I certainly can not wait to walk along the quiet streets, shuffling through the leaves in the gutter, enjoying the crackling sound that they make for whenever I do I always recall that autumn day many years ago when me mates and I raked together the autumn leafs with there gold crumpling texture into a huge pile that had fallen off the parkette trees with our bare hands. We jumped in that pile, threw leaves at each other, me nanny even took pictures and after reading your Blog entry for the day and reading your mentioning about the harvest of a new season I took out those very pictures and took a trip down autumn memory lane.

Happy autumn to You, WSOR! The first sign of autumn leaves within me surroundings I will be sending them your way. *smiles*

Me heart bleeds for those whom suffer with dementia an illness in which I can not witness due to being a sensitive being an illness that me mother sheltered me from as best as she could when her aunt became stricken with the disease, more so Alzheimer’s for she never had any violent episodes just bouts of loss of thought and reason to were she repeated herself constantly and forget the minor little things such as turning off the hob for that was a trying day when me great aunt nearly burned down her house and then having someone come into the home and turn off the gas for her safety. It was difficult witnessing that just watching her fade away, her mind, her ounce for life which became no more. I spent many nights crying after a visit with me great aunt who is now deceased just wishing and hoping to see that sparkle of life in her eyes once more. I can deal with other illness for I do but illness of the mind I can not for it frustrates me, it makes me angry that life can be ripped from someone and drains me to the point were I can not focus on how to better deal with such a illness in a structured way but with all illness’ and those whom suffer from them there comes flare ups and there comes days of calmness. It becomes a harmonious arrangement in all its simplest forms.

Thank you for sharing those inspirational e-mails. I must say that The Garbage Truck Rule touched a chord with me.

I mean, everyone knows what they need to focus on and we all get those little nudges. Sure there are a lot of people whom must learn to recognize those singles more than most, so they can quickly catch whatever is in their life that is not in balance. But most of us whom don’t know how to recognize the little nudges still get nudges, a little nudge, a stronger poke to eventually, getting slapped across the face or knocked down. And some people really have to hit bottom before they are willing to look at the necessity of change and the possibility of growth.

Trying to cultivate the attitude that the problems that come in ones life really are gifts from your our own soul trying to call you to your attention to the things in your life that are not in balance. Then life is less traumatic. You can immediately look at a problem and ask, “What do I need to learn here?”

I giggled at (Life is chugging along). *makes a train sound effect and shouts,* “Choo! Choo!” I think I will and being in theme here, choo-choo, choose The Little Engine That Could to read to the little ones tonight and raise a moralistic discussion on the value of optimism and hard work afterwards.

Thank you for the lovely read and keep chugging along.
