I wrote a blog last December about "Time to Regroup". Now nine months later, look at this mess, we need a $700 billion bailout.
Greed, the root of all evil, has reared its ugly head. The President has announced we are heading for a "long and painful recesssion".
Housing market, Loans were given to people for homes they could not afford, with the expectation of the housing market would continue to grow 20% every year. In 2 years, after the inital loan, people were suppose to be able to refinance at a lower rate. Realistically, this plan would never work.
Who is responsible for our jobs being sent over seas? Trickles down to the loss of income and inability to make house payments.
Why are we depending on oil from Iraq, when we have capped off oil wells all over Texas alone? 75% of the oil drilled in Alaska is being sent to China and Russia. Now polar bears has been added to the endangered list to prevent drilling.
The five major oil companies, BP, Chevron, Conoco, Phillips, ExxonMobile, and Shell, are posting billion dollar profit margins. From 2002-2007, their profit margins rose from $30 billion to $120 billion. This is pure and simple the rape of Americans.
President salary $400,000 his networth $30 million VP salary $200,000 his networth $94 million Speaker of the House $208,000 Congress $162,0000 (as of 2005) Our President and VP make more money in the private sector than in office
Hilary Clinton's campaign cost was $212 million, I wasnt able to find figures on McCain and Obama yet.
My point of all this, all of these people are out of touch with MY world. I am on the opposite end of the income bracket. They are talking about raising my taxes and using it to clean up their greedy mess.
I rent an apartment, I do not own multiple houses I am not a member of a country club I do not take lavish vacations I do own an economy car My monthly bills are pretty basic
I am not anti government, I am anti bad government. Just how much am I suppose to give and hurt before its enough? Do you really want me to put my child to bed hungry?
If politicans can raise money to support their campaigns, then go back to those same donors for help with the bail out. Other wealthy people, like Warren Buffett, should step up to the plate. Raise the taxes on the upper income. The lower income people are already sinking and you dont even feel our pain.
Its your turn to give up something!

I have warned about this for the past four years. Most of the responses on sites as this has been a look like a deer caught in the headlights.
Your are correct in that what we are seeing is the rape of America and the rapists want us to foot bill for his cab fare home.
I also predict:
1. They will want more money. 2. When the last shekel is taken, you will see these banks and others move their monies to Europe. (This has already started.)
China has already said they will do no more loans to the United States.
We are only getting about 30% of the full story.
In as far as has it hit hurt me?
In my blogs I have almost 'begged' people to be self reliant citing what is happening now and what is going to happen. It was meet for the most part with silence.
If there are any ears to hear.
Get out of the cities. Once the full brunt of this hits, you will see food shortages, fuel shortages or a huge spike in costs. Learn to grow your own food, get solar, even a small system..chuck the big screen T.V's, fancy cars and get something that is easy to work on and good on gas. Don't make anymore loans or bills...get as far out of the 'system' as you can.
At least then if it hurts, at least you have a pain killer to ease the pain.
Good luck.

100% Well said!! The SLEAZY mortage brokers who wrote all those BAD loans and took their unjustified commisions, have played a huge part in this. Kinda like grey area market traders. They all have a part. Honestly, if I happen to run across ANY of these mortage brokers, I am going to share a "little" of my/our pain with them.

Excellent blog, bamastyle. I have no clue if all of your statistics are correct or not...but regardless, we are in a mess. And yes, it's going to get worse. What I find amazing is that some people have no freakin' CLUE the bad shape we are in...they are totally oblivious.

The majority of the suits in Washington do not give a rats ass about how us "little folk" are having to scrape by.. as long as their ASSets are safe, they could not care less.. is anybody in Washington gonna lower the boom on these crooks?.. it's getting harder and harder for me to buy decent healthy food. My grocery bill is 3 times higher now than it was a year ago and I buy the basics except when I am lucky enough to get an order for a cheesecake.. and then I feel guilty because I had to raise the price up 2 bucks for each one. yesterdy was the first time I put gas in my car since a week before Ike hit.. I just sat my butt at home as much as I could.. here in Thomasville we are lucky to even find pumps that are still open.. no matter what we have to pay for it. I want the ones that caused this mess.. or LET it happen to pay dearly for what we are going through

We need to find a way to band together to stop this mess. Writing letters to senators and congressmen aren't going to work. As you said, people need to become self-sufficient. They also need to disappear while this whole thing happens. Small farms and alternate energy sources are the answer. I'm working on it.
