I lost September. On the last day of August I went to the ER and was admitted to the hospital. Sept. 3 surgery was performed on my bowels, where I had 2 blockages.. I have all the glamorous problems. A lot of guys don't want to date a woman in a wheelchair to begin with. Most people say they're looking for "true love," but that's not what they're describing. They're descibng an amazing date. Many men say they want a woman who can fly off to Paris at a moment's notice. A woman recovering from surgery doesn't seem to fit into that. I may sound whiny here, bu I'm a very positive person who does everything for myself. My last boyfriend, who was able-bodied, said I was more independent than he was. People react well to me in person, but not on the Internet. Unless they're totally wrong for me.

I have great respect for people that overcome disabilities and refuse to give an inch. It is difficult for many of us to describe our personalities in a detached manner on the net. You certainly have lots of company. The fact that you connect in person is more important. I hope you are well on the way to recovery from your recent ills.

I have a very dear friend that I have known since high school who is also a paraplegic since he was 18 months old and he does just fine. He is also independent, lives by himself and is in outside lumber sales for new home construction.
I have to say is that if a man puts the wheelchair before you and cannot get past it, then you don't need him. You are a beautiful woman and I think the right one will come along for you.

I'm glad you are well enough to blog now. I agree with you that there is a lot of bias on the internet, just as there is in the "real" world. I've always thought that the entire universe should live under the "live and let live" philosophy and our watchword should be "Judge not, lest ye be judged". Wouldn't it be great if people could get through the surface stuff right to the heart of us? I can't think of anyone that would be hurt by that and I know it would be a positive thing for everyone. Keep getting better and hang in there. You never know when someone very special is right around the corner.

I truly believe there is someone for everyone, just put yourself out there and keep looking. It takes an effort to meet others you can't just sit and home and not try. Meet for coffee in the afternoon and sometimes you might have to meet several before the right one comes along. Geeez you have a resemblance to Sarah Palin lol. you might have a movie career.......... lol. I've found several here I wouldn't mind meeting cept they always seem to live too far, story of my life lol. Good luck hunting. TC Lost
