  WSOR

This weekend was my 20 year class reunion. Originally, I had no intention of going given the way the 15 year one was, & given the turn of recent events in my life. But, the former classmate of mine that organized it all called me up, & twisted my arm into going. Friday night's event was just an informal gathering @ one of the taverns in town, after our football team beat Winneconne. This happened to be homecoming weekend, along with the fact that the classes of 83' & 93' were also celebrating @ the same tavern. Although I was thoroughly impressed @ how most classmates had matured in just 5 years time, & I did have fun, it was not without a price to pay. I RARELY drink, but when I do, I make up for it... & with classmates buying drinks all night, let's just say the 12 hr. period from 1:30 AM on was not a pretty sight. To top it off, I had to work the next morning, & had never gone into work with a hangover... until this weekend. That 4 hr. shift seemed like 10, & even today my chest muscles hurt, & I'm still a bit fatigued. I never was a big partier & never will be.. but if there's one thing I learned this weekend, it's that I'm not as young as I used to be & that hangovers are gonna really have a punch. It'll be a VERY long time, if ever, before I experience that again. I feel like a complete idiot, & hypocrite. Not only were my actions ones that caused me bodily agony, but getting tanked up to the point of almost passing out is NOT the example a Christian should be setting. I've felt horrible about it & have asked for my forgiveness, but it's something I'm not soon going to forget. Only one question comes to mind..... HOW can some people do that sort of thing EVERY weekend, & then on Monday laugh about it, brag about it, & look forward to doing it all over again????

Otherwise, the leaves are fast in changing here & we will be @ our peak in about 10-17 days. Next weekend I'll be heading up to Amherst to get some Fall color shots, & see what kind of rail activity I can find up that way. Gas is down to $3.51 in Ripon & in Oshkosh it was $3.46 today when I was headed over for my aunt's b-day.

I hope you all had a great weekend, & for those of you that feel the need to scold me, set me straight, or yell @ me, please feel free.. I deserve it. *HUGS & FOOTRUBS* ladies.. *HANDSHAKES* guys...

Just remember WSOR, that Paul was a murderer, Peter denied him, Noah was a drunk, David was an adulterer and a murderer. And the list could go on and on. Father Knows Best and He has excepted your forgiveness. But to repent, means to turn and go the other direction, not just say I am sorry. I have to repent daily and sometimes I think I wear out my Father's patience. But He loves you man, and so does this redhead KyWonder.

I am not going to scold you or yell at you.

I am wondering if everyone else was also over drinking also... cause if not, why did they not dissuade you from continuing on for more to let you get so out of it?

Ex bartender here..... and someone serving the alcohol, should have stopped you.

Well, at least you did not get into any big trouble. No wreck or such.

I don't like to feel bad, so I refrain from too much myself. I think we all have done it in the past though, so don't beat yourself up anymore. Just do as you said and not do it again.

You know.........

You actually went to a class reunion?

I've avoided all of mine. Those things often fall into trying to impress or outdo other people. I don't have the patience for that kind of thing.

Anyway, take a little "hair of the dog that bit you"............Drink a little orange juice, a bit of ginger (for nausea), and a bit of Ginseng (cleans out the alcohol)..........
Then some strenuous physical activity to burn out the rest.............

I quit drinking years ago...i only drink when i camp and know im not gonna be driving....its so easy for me to return to that life.......and i have a great time when i drink.....its just the fact that spending a nite in jail for getting behind the wheel of a car....and of course...the high cost after....makes it seem stupid to me....but hey....ive got no problem with those who use common sence.....and as far as class reunions.....im done with those........cookie

It's ok, you were out for a night of fun things happen, sorry you felt yucky the next day, yeah, that's not a good price to pay. I think the last time I felt that bad was age 18 and I don't ever remember doing that again, lesson learned lol. Yeah, that must have been a very long day indeed.

I love the fall weather, when you get those fall foliage photos be sure and share them k?

Getting drunk is fun when your with friends...

Or should I say having drinks...

Having a hangover, not fun...Bragging about it, not funny...

Don't be so hard on yourself.

At least you didn't bring a strange guy home.

Wsor,

I typically dont respond to any blogs though most of them are very interesting but this one struck a chord. I also debated until the last minute of whether or not to attend our 20yr high school reunion, but figured that I would since I had missed the 10yr reunion (went mostly to see if my high school crush was going to be in attendance). Had a nice rainy, cold drive back to CO which was awesome.

Same thing, most of us met on Friday night at a local tavern and there were a few there that had changed significantly in their looks- in fact one of the party girls from school was still a party girl but I swear she could have been her mother she looked that aged.
The next day we had a big picnic at the local park which was nice b/c then everyone brought their children. Two of our classmates who dated in high school, we had all predicted they would get married and have 5 kids and they sure didnt disappoint us (funny thing is that I had seen Mike about 5 or 6 yrs previously when he was pitching in a baseball game against the Royals in KC and he swore they were stopping at #4..lol).
That same night we had a big dress up dinner and several of the high school party crowd showed up----just like the girl at the tavern, they were still partying and all looked old enough to be their parents instead of our classmates. and they still had their little clique....the ones who were on the outskirts of that clique had grown up so they mingled with the rest of the class.

Regardless of the partiers still being partiers at our age now, the best and most sad part of our reunion was remembering classmates that we no longer had in our lives---just our memories of them only. We knew of 4 that had passed on, one right after we had graduated in 86 of leukemia (his parents declined to attend but would have been awesome to see them both)-Chris is one that I really miss as we were buddies, 1 died in a boating accident, 2 committed suicide and then the day of the reunion, we were notified that another classmate had been killed in a MVA just a few days before leaving behind her 4 children. We had memorials setup in the banquet hall for the 4 that we had known of, so we took several minutes to remember each of them plus the newest one who had left us.

Our school was very small...600 total students between the 4 classes, with our senior class containing a mere 112 so losing 5 of our classmates hit us hard. The majority of us who all got along, made a pact that we would do another reunion in 5yrs since there may be less of us by then.

If I could do high school all over again, the only thing that I would have changed is not telling my high school crush what I felt about him--he just got married this summer for the first time which was a sad feeling that I hadn't spoken up sooner telling him how I felt, but I wished him all the best with his new bride who is an awesome woman! And in a pact that we made, he and I will always be friends so his spot in my heart will remain forever.

Best thing to do when invited to those occasions is drink a soda or juice - no alcohol! It always bothers me to get invited to a pub because I keep thinking the Lord may come back anytime, and there I would be!! I quit drinking alcohol many years ago.

Gas is down to $3.14/gal here!

Hi There my friend...(I'm whispering so it doesn't bother your head)

I can't tell ya much about drinking and hangovers...but I can tell ya about the way I felt after drinking a couple of sloe gin fizz and then chug-a-lugging a beer.....I remember it clearly!!!!! And, that was, let's see,....about 50 years ago? (I had the dry heaves for 2 days.) NEVER AGAIN

No need to say anything to you, obviously you've learned your lesson well.

But, I just might be the REUNION QUEEN....I've been to every one of my High School Reunions...and enjoyed them all....One year I remember flying in from Hawaii and went from the airport to the Reunion....got the prize that year, for traveling the greatest distance.

Went up to Ct. again this summer for our 50th...the numbers are dwindling...and it was a luncheon instead of an evening dance and party....Well, we're all over 70 and, apart from not enjoying driving at night anymore, I'm betting that some no longer dance and maybe some don't even stay up beyond 9pm

Anyway, it was great fun...a classmate and I drove up from Florida...and, again, we got the prize for traveling the longest distance. We still consider it well worth it.
Now, we're starting to hold them yearly....sadly, we're losing our classmates at a faster rate and have decided not to wait two years...so, we're scheduled for next August.

However, we're considering flying, instead of driving...not that we can't drive, but the traffic and the ATTITUDE and RECKLESSNESS of drivers on the highways these days is more aggravation than it's worth.

I'm glad you enjoyed yours.... Sometimes it even does the old heart good to see how you've aged, in the grand scheme of things...I came home feeling I've done pretty damn well...

Fondly,
KK
