So, I will no longer be referring to the girlfriend as such. We're still wonderful friends. Not a cliché line, I mean for real; in fact, as I write this were chatting about the online game we're in the middle of. Maybe that's what we should always have been. Maybe someday we'll be something more again; for now, we don't want quite enough of the same things.

All in all, I think neither of us is as upset as we might have expected; for my part, it's a hell of a lot easier the second time around.
