Sometimes, as we stumble along through this experience called life, we may happen upon an opportunity to meet someone exceptional. But, if we are not paying attention enough to notice and take advantage of such an opportunity, it will not happen. I almost allowed that grand opportunity to pass me by, simply because I had accepted my fate of being alone and had become complacent with my life as it was.

But I knew better. Sure I did! From the very first time I read her profile, a year ago, I knew there could be a strong connection there. Oh yes, we can say that the timing was off and the distance was bad. Hell, we can make all sorts of excuses and many of us do just that. But, the point is, as soon as she and I started talking, it was very evident that there was a strong connection between us.

We noticed that we are a bit different, in some ways. But, as we talked, we quickly came to realize that we are overwhelmingly the same in all the ways that count most for us in a close relationship. We’ve become very close friends and will also become great companions. Everything else follows naturally because we are both also affectionate adults.

A very wise friend once admonished: “The best relationships are forged from a two individuals with similar levels of intelligence, compatible personality traits, shared values, a commitment to adapt to each other’s idiosyncrasies ... and a lot of hard work. Nothing more, nothing less.” I believe that.

Better yet, when she first saw this text, she did, too.

You've rendered this gal happily speechless..and you know THAT doesn't happen to very often! Well not to speechless seeing you know what I think.

A wise friend you have and a wiser man you are.. to be willing to use those words in a real relationship! Lucky me!

A sweeter more romantic, kind and caring man I could not have wished to have found to capture my heart and hold it.

What a wonderful journey we have begun!

Those of us who are still 'stumbling along' appreciate the stories from those who have taken that leap into relationship.

I have not seen writings from you for quite awhile. But, as I remember, they have always been worthy of remembering. That's why you're still on my Friends list.

I hear what you are saying and my thoughts are that when we sit back and keep focused on what's going on around us, things do not tend to pass us by....May your discovery continue to grow and prosper....it doesn't happen overnight,....it takes time...

Sincerely,
Knittin kitten
