With my new retirement life I've learned you need to seek out new friends for this era of your life. Not only that, where do friends go online when they finally find someone special in their lives? These two types of friends really aren't friends in my opinion.
All the co-workers I was so close to at work, once I retired, I've been forgotten. You are just a thing of the past. No calls for lunch get-togethers, no emails or phone calls.  You feel sometimes you have really great friends at work, but where will they be when you retire and they continue working?  It's like I disappeared into the woodwork, and I am not a part of the group anymore.
Then there are those who write you constantly in online dating sites, and you feel like you will be email buddies forever. The other person finds the special one of their lives, and off they go as well...never checking back to see how you're doing. Not that you are wanting to be that special one in their life, but when you have friends online, don't drop everyone just because you found the love of your life!!  You need to think how those friends supported you throughout the time you were looking! Why do you turn your back on them now? 
Just a thought for all of you to ponder today. Now send an email to some of those people you have forgotten and try to cheer their day.
