It's been a number of years now that I've been trying to get in touch with him. THE ONE. The teacher that saved my life, that changed my life, that made a huge impact on me then and also on the person I would become. The one that saw a girl with no direction, and no father figure, so he stepped in and took on that role. The one that took time out of his busy schedule to TALK to me, to find out my hopes and dreams. The one that kept me after class for a moment on the last day of school my Senior year and, with tears in his eyes, presented me with a graduation gift as he wished me luck in my future.
Today an alumni of my High School gave me his email address.
Now...
What the fck do I say??? How do I begin?
*sigh*
It's going to be a long day.
And now for something completely different!

You just do the same thing I did to a teacher that made an impression on me. I told her about it. As I watched the tears well up in her eyes, I could tell that she was deeply moved by my confession. Her words to me was, "I did not know that I made a difference. Thank you" It was then that I realized that I had taken for granted all the hard work that the teachers had invested me. For her it was 3 years because I had her for three different classes.

Like Jackson said "thank you".. and then you can tell him HOW he changed your life.. just as I did with my hero Miss Betsy ( as I call her now).. show him how he affected your life.. I know he will be proud of you EF.. .

as others said, "THANK YOU." you might also point out one or two of your accomplishments that were directly or indirectly the result of his interest in you.
have seen comments by teachers to the effect, .............. "wonder what ever happened to ______?" and .............. "it was so good to hear from ____, after all these years."
in other words, just because you graduated, doesn't mean they QUIT thinking of you. or not...

I too have written about that favorite teacher that changed my life. I have never posted it to the public, but yes...I sent it to her. We actually spent most of last Friday night togehter laughing, talking, discussing all things great and wonderful. She is an awesome woman and soon I too will honor her in blog land.

What a very sweet blog. I think it is always a good thing to find a way to let a person know who has touched your life.
I will say that once many years ago I let a woman know how much she had touched my life during a difficult time. I should have left it at that but ended up dating her son and marrying him At any rate it was still a part of me becoming who I am today which is not such a bad thing after all.
