After reading and engaging with members here I have come to one conclusion. Americans do not elect their presidents by making well educated decisions concerning right and wrong. They make their decisions emotionally. Choosing a president is more about who they identify with rather than the true qualifications of that top executive branch leader. One can outlast his competitors as long as he has enough charisma and popularity even though his competitor may be the better man for the job. As a child growing up in California and Texas in the early sixties I came to know well the impact of the cold war on even the young in our country. The haunting wail of the Civil Defense sirens blared often as we were instructed to actually believe that we could survive a nuclear attack by seeking shelter underneath our little desks or by kneeling out in the hall in front of our lockers. Fat chance. When President Reagan called for Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin wall, I like many Americans thought the cold war was over. I remember the lyrics from a band called Collective Soul during that time, "watching the world wake up from history." It seemed the world was set to enter a new era of peace and prosperity, but not so. Terrorism took on new heights in the middle east and to the tragic realization of those in US embassies. President Clinton sat with his hands folded as attacks worldwide increased. He even let Bin Laden slip through his fingers. Today Syria turns the heat up on Israel while Iran and North Korea juice up their nuclear arsenals. Does the insanity ever end? No sir. Does anti Americanism ever end worldwide? No sir. Meanwhile Putin makes sure former Soviet spies die in horrible fashion poisoned by radioactive cocktails. One former Russian official critical of the former Soviet Union was even shotgunned to death right on his driveway in a Washington DC suburb. With the invasion of Georgia I believe Putin has sent a very clear message to the US, our NATO allies, and the rest of the world. That message is that communism has reared its old ugly head again in Russia, and it is not afraid to flex its military muscle. Now you can pick your candidate based upon his calm unruffled image in a debate, or the fact that he knows how to appeal to our video game generation with plenty of internet ads, but what do you really know about Obama? This man has absolutely no foreign diplomatic experience. He has no military experience. He has never presided over any projects requiring an executive oversight, but a failed Chicago urban renewal project that was a dismal failure and cost tax payers 160 million dollars, and is still under investigation. It is clear to me watching Obama that he has done nothing in his political career, but associate with questionable peers with unpatriotic agendas and has helped to further the cause of reverse discrimination with organizations like ACORN now being raided and shut down for aiding and abetting voter fraud as well as having a long history of intimidation and harassment. The man lies about these very telling indicators about his character. This man has spent his adult life grooming himself for this position and does not care whether the bone he has to pick will bring down a nation with his wealth spreading, socialistic, agendas. McCain may not be as charismatic. He is older. Obama has done a great job in the minds of voters associating McCain with the past administration. He has a slick marketing camp that has played their mass psychology card well, but the truth is all that hype does not make up the character and righteousness of an individual. Especially one fit to lead the United States of America. The office of the president is not about settling old scores over racial issues for the sake of vengeance. Being the president does not entail making America more palatable to the taste buds of our enemies in the world because they stand for everything that is idealologically opposed to our constitution and bill of rights. This is a country that operates as a republic that represents not only the will of its people, but righteousness based on being a nation under God, which so many Democrats and others have conveniently refused to acknowledge as we acquiesce to the demands of international immigrants within our borders and pressure from our enemies abroad. In view of the grave threats that exist in the world today, it would be idiotic to choose a candidate for the presidency based upon the ignorant criteria that most voters will use when making their choices. In this age surely character and strength have taken a back seat to appearing fashionable and in vogue. We have forgotten the terrible lessons taught to us by history, and that darkened figure stands poised upon our doorsteps. Do you want a president like Obama negotiating his Neville Chamberlain-like methodology with terrorist groups such as Al Quaida, the Talibahn, and HAMAS? Just remember Neville Chamberlain joyfully displaying his meaningless documents of nonaggression with Hitler as the Nazis prepared to launch the Blitzkrieg upon Europe! If Obama gets himself elected in this senseless world of wrongs are right and right is wrong I have a word for you Democrats as you go skipping down the yellow brick road to Emerald City to see the all powerful wizard. Just remember that he's really just the powerless little man hiding behind the curtains!

If Americans voted strictly on emotion, then the smearing and fearmongering would work. As we can see from the polls, and your blog here, it does not.
Swing away.

One of the important points is that we have to know the difference between emotions and facts....I'm finding that truth and facts are more and more difficult to ascertain today.
I like what you had to say....I'm in agreement with much of it....However, how do I "unemotionally" check out the facts? I've read so much that I've been walking around with a headache for weeks....Not even sure we can trust the sources normally used for checking the facts.
However, I have certainly learned how POWERFUL MONEY IS...AND HOW WELL IT CAN MASK THE FACTS. I think my biggest disappointment is probably that media cannot even be trusted.....My second biggest disappointment is that I'm not accomplished enough to get out of this computer all that is hidden within that might get me closer to the truth.
If I had any kudos left, you'd have gotten one.
Sincerely,
KK

Sad but true most Americans have grown lazy and will vote for a puppet that is promising them every thing and will deliver nothing

GREAT BLOG !!!.......I also agree with most of wht you said. I think you are SPOT ON!!. I am not American so cant vote....however ....if I were....I know exactly who I would be voting for.....and it wouldnt be O'bama. There is too much at stake to vote for someone like him. There are some things youi just cant gamble with at voting time. Country security.....would be on the top of my list.

Many hated Bush because he had that Smirk on his face of confidence where he always looked as if he had a chip on his shoulder. Take a look at Obama, he has that same look, and no one seems to notice it? I can't figure out why they now think it's appealing? I agree, there's something sneaky about him, he's not being crystal clear. I'm sure it will all come out sooner or later, I''m just afraid we will all have to suffer before that time comes however. tc Lost

You have written a very impressive blog, it was a very good overview of recent history. However, this argument will not sway anyone who is supporting Obama. Obama is going to be elected primarily by blacks... who would vote for him even if he were running on Adolf Hitlers platform. And young 18 to 20 year old Dolts who have ZERO life experience, and have been infected by the rap culture. They just don't care about what might happen.

Very well put, my friend.
These times bring to mind of things that are mentioned in the Book of Revelations and things about the 'Angel of Light'.
God Bless America
