Those of you that have known me a long time know that one of my best friends on this Earth stands about a foot high with black & tan markings. I met Xander 3 years ago when my friend Jeff brought him home from the Humane Society, & we hit it off right away. Xander, along with his twin sister, were given up for adoption when their owner moved into a place that did not allow pets. His sister had been adopted earlier that week. Xander is 1/2 Jack Russell Terrier & 1/2 Miniature Pinscher.. meaning that he has double the energy, double the stubbornness, & double the love, as both breeds are highly energetic, very eager to please, & highly intelligent. In the 3 years that I have seen Xander over my lunch hours, & the times I've dog sat with him I've taught him a plethora of tricks. I started with the basics of sit, & lie down, & since then have taught him to roll over, shake, give me a high 5, bite his treats in half, take things gently, dance, walk, & to use an "indoor" voice when saying please. I also taught him to bark when he hears any of the following words in a sentence... "1/2 Jack Russell", "1/2 Mini Pin", "big dog in a little dog's body", "part Ghingis Khan", & "Napolean complex". The bone that Xander has in his mouth in my pics weighs 8 lbs.!! I bought him that bone last Christmas in hopes that it would be a toy he could chew on & yet have to leave in 1 place so that his owner, Jeff, would not step or trip on it in the middle of the night. Wrong! As you can see, within a few minutes he had it in his mouth & was showing off. This year for Christmas I'm upping the size to a 15 pounder to see if that can stay in 1 place.
