There has been alot of discussion about the negative political comments on blogs. I don't like the name calling either, but there is always the option of not reading blogs that you may find disagreeable. Most of us know what authors we read and what authors we should maybe not read if you don't want to hear it.
The reason I stay so adament about that is, I don't want to lose my right to write it because you can't seem to exercise your option of not reading it. It is my right to voice my beliefs. I will go one step further and say I take it as a responsibility to find out what I can about a candidate and speak about it.
I don't trust the media anymore to give you the right scoop. I don't trust the candidates anymore to give you the straight story because they allow managers to run the show and you aren't getting the information you need to make an informed choice. Then they start throwing the component of negative campaigning in, I would much rather get serious about the issues but they skim over those to trash each other.
I think the issues of this particular campaign is imperitive to be informed of. I know the knee jerk reaction to not want to hear it, not want to see it, and not want to talk about it, because it is not a pretty picture. But the reality is the pervasivness of that attitude is a good part of why we are in this position. We have allowed ourselves the luxory of sitting by and trusting the things are par for the course.
They are not par, we are in serious trouble as a nation.
Our educational levels suck, comparitively speaking.
Our health care system is outragously expensive and is not the quality it should be for the cost.
Our Social Security system is not viable anymore. No matter how much they deduct from your paychecks they have already spent that much and more.
Our unemployment rates are to high.
Our economic future is precariouly hanging in the balance at the whim of investors that got greedy and raped the system once and are now practicing pump and dump, which is just pulling out that last of the blood from the turnip, and we keep trying to give it transfusions at our expense.
The current adminstration used the war on terrorism as an excuse to take away personal rights and freedoms that are guarenteed by the Constitution, but they are being whittled away on a fear campaign.
At this point in time there is no way I am going to remain passive in my right to see the evil, hear the evil, and speak about the evil. If you don't want to read it....then exercise your option, don't read it. If you are going to read it don't be offended because I am saying something you don't want to hear. But then again...if things get worse and you are wanting to snivel about the state of the union. You are bringing home a third of your paycheck, the rich are getting richer and the poor....well you are having to step over the homeless on the sidewalks, or being in fear of being mugged for your groceries. Then it is back on you not wanting to see, hear, or speak about the evils in this world, because they are just to negative to deal with.
