I read this morning that Colin Powell is going to endorse Barack Obama. Here is a man that while he was a member of the Bush Administration was hated by the democrat party. Now today they love him and are running around bragging how he is supporting Barack Obama. So why are so many democrats happy that someone they hate so much and give a lot of blame too for the Iraq war are now all of a sudden in love with him? Because they put party before country. If they truely loved their country more then their party they would stick to their guns and still not like Colin Powell because of the war. Instead of bragging about his endorsement they should be against it. But all they seem to care about is what will help their party win.
I find it odd that they despise Colin Powell for helping us get into a war they deem unlegitiment but they don't have a problem with someone who use to sit on boards with, has been in the house of, run school projects with, gives speeches with and claims he is friendly with a man who led a terrorist organization. This same terrorist organization that has bombed our country several times.
I guess what ever helps the democrat party is all that really matters. Colin Powell is hated for helping us get into a war but now cheered for endorsing a democrat. I am sorry, but we are still in the same war he help start. I guess all is forgiven because now he endorses Barack Obama. William Ayers attacks our country several times with a group he brainwashes with his lectures and democrats don't care because caring would harm Barack Obama. They actually give Barack Obama a pass for his association with William Ayers and try to downplay their roles together or find excuses for it. Like I said before, what ever helps out the party trumps what ever is best for the country.
Don't get me wrong, republicans do the same thing. I think they just do it on a lesser scale then democrats do. I do however see both sides in this blog world saying some pretty mean things to one another, all in the names of politics. Party first, people's feelings second. This is why I can't be affilliated with either party. I can't imagine making anything besides God and family more important to me then my country. Can this be a good thing for this country? Not at all. Do the partisan politicians care? Not at all. What ever gives them power must be done at all costs.
I am not for Barack Obama. I have not kept that a secret. I am not for Barack Obama because he is a socialist and I am not. Socialism is bad for this country. You can only be for socialism if you want to be given something you didn't earn at the expense of others. I can't imagine having a sense of entitlement like that. I go out and earn it and if I can't afford it then I wait until I can. But no way am I expecting someone else to take care of me just because they are better off then me.
I get all kinds of grief from Barack Obama supporters because I am not for him. I guess if you don't support Barack Obama and his socialism that somehow you have to be a republican. I get called a republican all the time. I guess independent thinkers have to typecasted also if they are not democrats or supporters of Barack Obama. Yesterday I wrote a blog about how making fun of others was not a good thing and a Barack Obama supporter took the time to comment how I have said such terrible lies about Barack Obama and that I was like calling the kettle black. Of course, he didn't bother to support his claims with any mention of the supposed lies I have said about Barack Obama. Doesn't matter. I am not a supporter of Barack Obama so therefore I am despised by many who are. Now this is such a avid supporter of Barack Obama that he took a non political blog and made it political.
A lot of people will defend and support members of their own party no matter what. The sad part is that these same people are too blind to see that these politicians that they love and support so much don't even care about them. They just need them to give them power. What have they ever done to deserve such devotion? People like Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Newt Gingrich, what have they ever done for you to deserve such devotion? It is too bad that many people just blindly give them this power. Once again, party interest trumps country interest. We have become a brainwashed society. It is easy to see now why a person like William Ayers could brainwash his flock to attack their own country. We have become a society that puts self interest first over country interest. God help this country.

Don't get me wrong, republicans do the same thing. I think they just do it on a lesser scale then democrats do. Let's see if you're saying that after the republicans spend the next two weeks trashing Powell. But I do agree that partisan politics are the model of ignorance. I catch hell from the McCainanites and the Obamabots for not buying into the hype. Bob Barr is starting to look better and better.

Colin Powell is hated for helping us get into a war but now cheered for endorsing a democrat. That's the way the Liberal mind works. They will do or say "whatever" is necessary to gain power.
In this instance, Powell knew that he'd be on the outside looking in of a McCain administration. It took Powell a looooong time to finally make his announcement after days of speculation. That is because he was in negotiations with the Obama campaign.
We'll see what job he gets in the Obama Administration should Obama get elected...
That will say much about Gen Powell and what his endorsement cost.

I see the people putting themselves first all the time.
This morning as I saw the news that Colin Powell has made his endorsement it caused a great sadness in me because I have respected this man for years. I do not believe that it is not a cultural backing.
I am in no way supportive of someone who is wanting to take away my hard earned dollars and spread them to people who don't work or will not work. I see too many people in my line of work who are living on food stamps, TANIF and medicaid. Interestingly enough my experience has been many more Caucasians doing this than African Americans.....maybe it is just because of the county that I work in.
In the 11 years since my divorce I have been to hell and back trying to make my own way and finally succeeding in obtaining my degree while working full time and going to school full time while in my 40's. I never accepted handouts and never would have considered accepting welfare as I am an able bodied adult and can work. Oh and I raised my daughter by myself as well.
I agree with you that folks are not thinking with their heads properly in determining who they will vote for - it seems a no brainer to me - do you really want socialism? I'm afraid for this country and what they are potentially willing to accept as the leader of this country. It seems to me that there have been several charismatic leaders who lead their countries down a rotten path....just look back in history.
Just my opinion.

But all they seem to care about is what will help their party win.
That is the problem with America today - for almost all politicians in both parties.

It seems to me that there have been several charismatic leaders who lead their countries down a rotten path Jamie, our banks are failing, our financial system is in the process of being socialized, we have millions of mortgage defaults across the US, 10-11 trillion in national debt, we're in the middle of a recession, and we're in the middle of 2 wars with no end in site.
I'd say at this moment, we're already on the quote, "rotten path." As far as charasima, I don't know of too many world leaders, who haven't had it.
In reference to your blog, republicans on here, criticized Dems for their angry sentiment towards Lieberman, after he crossed over to support McCain. Now that the crossing over isn't in their interest, it's Powell taking the heat from Repubs.
Personally, I'm not a big believer in endorsements. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and in my opinion, my opinion is as good as anyone's.

The reactions and counter reactions to this 'news' is so disrespectful of Colin Powell. If you didn't hear his explanation (or even if you did), read a copy of it. Here is a thoughtful citizen who is showing by example how the American process should work. It seems that people---either party---have no respect for anyone. That's a sad situation.

Powell owes McCain an apology. He accused him of many things that were simply a lie.
It was obvious that he was reading Democrat talking points.
It is rather amusing that the man that the Democrats so loathed at the start of the Iraq War (remember his UN presentation?) is now their HERO.
What a bunch of disingenuous phonies.

Colin Powell is a great man. I did a thesis on him in college and studied his background pretty thoroughly. We just got poor intelligence which got us into this war and that's the main problem to begin with. Blaming Bush and everyone else doesn't matter. Heck the people voted and 73% wanted war because of 911, and being attacked when they hit the USS Cole we didn't even care about WMD's. It's the cowards that won't stand behind their own vote that pisses me off. I don't blame Colin Powell, I blame the danged Terrorists that put us in the position in the first place to have to defend ourselves. Why don't they just come out and fight like a man and tell us who they are instead of having us have to guess? Then we'd know the proper ppl to attack instead of this stupid cat and mouse guessing game. They won't come right out in public and admit to the attacks and take responsibility because they are chickens and afraid of us. They are clever, they know it's tearing our country apart doing it this way, we are not United, and it's working, and they haven't used a bomb again....Yet. tc Lost

I'd only like to take this opportunity to say that I have NEVER voted strictly along any party lines. I have ALWAYS considered the individuals & cast my vote for the person & their ideas.
I think it is a shame that so many believe others are incapable of having a mind of their own & making their own decisions. It was obvious that he was reading Democrat talking points. To insinuate that Colin Powell is stating anything other than what he believes in is ridiculous.

Bob Barr is starting to look better and better. I just wish there were enough Americans that felt this way to upset the apple cart...It it time for this partisan BS to stop.
Wouldn't it be nice to wake up the day after the election to find out both the Democratic and Republican rhetoric was all for naught, and they would have to come up with a real candidate that had leadership skills, not a good campaign manager, and the media in thier pockets?
I am tired of voting against candidates and would like to actually vote FOR somebody.

I seem to remember that not too long ago Powell was supposed to be a war criminal along with Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld etc. It's going to be awful hard to charge them and not him.
