Just a few minutes ago......i did what ive been hating to have to do all fall......but when you looked around the house...i really had no choice.....my daughters on the couch wrapped up in a quilt.....our cats....their fur all puffed out and giving me that look like damn dad.....dount you think its about time......and even myself.....watching football with feet as cold as ice......and with the house at 62*.....i turnned on my heat for the first time......set it for 70*......being out past the city limits...i heat with propane......and with the cost of it at it highest level in years......i pay 2.33 a cubic gallon for it.....ten years ago...i paid just .63 cents a gallon....and even though i only heat with it...im forced to pay for it year round now because of the cost.....and the company ive been buying from since day one.....their corporate office got my billing mixed up from the local office and they called me at work the other day and said i was deliquent in my payments.....had to call the local office and get it all straightened out....because you see...corporate was ready to turn me over to collections.....the local office said they were sorry and that they would take care of it with their big office......but a week later...i got another call at home telling me i was still in default....so last week...i paid off my ballance and cancelled my account with them.....i wont be labeled a dead beat when im following my contract to the letter.....the local office has called three times to apologizeing for all the trouble the corporate office has caused me....and wanted me back as a customer.....but im now looking for another company to deal with....i had a A1 rating with the company....but i guess in all the confusion with billing...that was overlooked in my ten years of service with them.....and just to think....all i wanted to do is to be able to heat my house as reasonable as i could......and as affordable as i could...even if it meant paying a heating bill all year long.......only in america.....i guess.....cookie

I had to break down and turn the heat on today as well. Woke up this morning, came downstairs and it was very chilly....glad I did turn it on after the antics of the 4 legged crew. Cheer up....it's only for the next 6 months....

Oh cookie don't worry about your A1 rating...they only sold the contracts 4 times to 3 different companies, eventually it will land on someones desk and they will enter your payments.

been running my little heater for a few days now. Have not turned on my main heat, just a little floor heater. But my joints tell me cold weather is on the way. It was sunny here today, with just a little chill. Not much, but you know it is in the air.

Only in America..yeah! lol Had a problem with my telephone company as far back as last Spring..Wanted to just diconnect my phone service cause I use my cell phone mostly...Didn't need two servers..Tried, and tried to get ahold of the customer service to have it disconnected, and was put on hold until I finaly gave up, and hung up...Finally!! after several months got ahold of them, and was able to cut my service off..Was told my final bill would be around $300.00...Was so mad I told them "screw it. I ain't paying!" But of course I will pay. Made me mad though because I never used the phone for months.. As far as heat goes...It's been warm here, and I rarley have to turn my heat on..Did a couple of times in the AM when I get up just to take the chill out. Use a heat pump...Good way to save on heat cost.

i heat with natural gas, and pay a budget amount (the same amount for eleven months, and then a settlement payment on the twelfth month---march, for me). last year my settlement month bill ($43) was less than the scheduled monthly amount ($90). they wanted to raise the average bill from $90 to $96,,, i complained,,, so they said OK, pay the $90,,, but we'll review the account in september. andddddddddddddd on next month's bill the scheduled average payment amount is ONE HUNDRED THIRTY-SIX dollars. i'm thinking of turning the heat to 55* and wearing more clothes. seriously, are these companies nuts? i'm trying to decide if i should discontinue the budget plan,,, and pay monthly--- no matter how inconvenient it is to have a $150+ bill in dec, jan and feb.

What a shame, cookie. Sorry you've had that problem. I've switched my thermostat over to heat & it's set on 65. It's not kicked on yet, but I'm sure it will tonite. We have our first frost warning of the season & a forecast of 35* over nite.

I'm in Michigan and I haven't turned on my heat..yet. Most days are warm enough, I keep warm enough nights with hot flashes and night sweats!! With the price of gas increasing...I welcome the flashes!!

I just scraped ice from my windshield for first time this year. I've had my heat going awhile due to my arthritis. I miss having a fireplace to keep me warm.
