Dear President Bush,
I am a little more than upset at the way you have run this country into the ground and I have a lot of question for you to answer. You had to know what was happening to the economy, yet you didn’t take any action until it was too late and now you expect honest people in this country to bail you and your friends out? Why do you even have advisors if you don’t listen to them? Are they that bad at their jobs?
Life in itself is a gamble and Wall Street is no exception. Buying a house that you hope will appreciate in value or lending money that you hope will be repaid, with interest, are also risks. These people gambled that they would make money and they didn’t. Why should people who don’t gamble have to pay the debts of those that do?
Why is it that a criminal has to pay for his mistakes, but not you, the other 400 plus people running this country and the presidents and CEO’s of these failed companies? Evidently the leaders of these failed companies didn’t fail too badly because they walked away with millions of dollars in retirement packages that you now want us to repay. What exactly is your definition of a criminal?
Greed is the reason for this economic downturn. Greedy people who wanted more than they could afford and greedy companies that fed their addiction are the real ones to blame. Why are you penalizing the honest, hard working, living within their means people who don’t have any debt and are not responsible for this crisis, when you should be rewarding them instead?
I’m sorry, but I’ve lost faith that the US government is actually working for the people. I believe that it is now working for the wealthy only. Come January, I hope you continue to have a nice life, because you really screwed up a lot of other folk’s lives.

Sincerely,
Bob the Builder

P.S. If possible, please respond to these questions during your next bailout package speech.

Now, did you remember to also send this letter to the members of Congress
who put those bills on the President's desk to sign/not sign?

I feel they are the most guilty of the whole mess, and the worst of the crisis has
happened since the Congress has been a Democratic Majority!

Things were good during the beginning of the Bush years, interest rates were low,
stocks were making money, despite Clinton helping to push Freddie and Fannie to give every Tom, Dick, and Harry a mortgage they couldn't afford to repay!

Hey Goatman, did you notice that when I mentioned this same thing and you agreed with me the author of the blog deleted your comment ? So I am going to agree with you again. lol. Since the Congress was won by the majority of the Democrats and they made all these promises of how things were going to change they kept their promise. Things Changed!!!! They sent bills up for the President to sign or not and now we are in a mess........the letter should say like Goatman said: Dear Congress. Take care Lost

Goatman It was not all Democratic...these quotes come from the whitehouse.gov I think that is a pretty reliable source to quote the President don't you?

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2008/01/20080128-13.html

Bush Dec 2007
The Administration has also proposed allowing cities and States to issue tax-exempt mortgage bonds to refinance existing loans, and the President calls on Congress to approve this temporary measure quickly. Under current law, cities and states can issue tax-exempt bonds to finance new mortgages for first-time homebuyers, and this measure would make it easier for State housing authorities to help troubled borrowers

How is it they are troubled borrowers now when they are first time home buyers? hmmmm, or it that to say you are ok'ing loans to folks with bad credit?

Congress needs to pass legislation to reform Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs) like Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae
pass legislation that strengthens independent regulation of the GSEs and ensures they focus on their important housing mission

Skip forward to Jan 2008 Bushs' State of the Union Address

Tonight I ask you to pass legislation to reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, modernize the Federal Housing Administration, and allow state housing agencies to issue tax-free bonds to help homeowners refinance their mortgages

$120 million for NeighborWorks and another $50 million for HUD's mortgage counseling program. Congress has had these requests since early February, and it needs to stop delaying and get this funding to the President's desk.

I added that second quote because not only did he know about Freddie and Fannie he was already trying to scramble ways to keep them afloat handing the keys to handle low interest loand ....to who? FHA to refinance, and ...........(drum roll please.......State housing agencies and HUD....you know those agencies don't you? Low income housing? You know the gig.... loan the money to property owners through state agencies, and then subsidize the payments for those with low income...

The Republicans and this adminstration are as quilty as any Democrat...

But you know who to really blame?
Look in the mirror......you bought the partisan BS hook line and sinker.
Vote them out? oh no.....you are to busy blaming the other guy and listening to CNN FOX NBC CBS getting the Readers Digest condensed versions to really listen to what your elected officials were saying.

They knew, have known, thought they had a handle on it until after the elections, but it got away from them before they could get gone. You don't really think Bush bought property in South America because he wanted a bigger cattle ranch do you? He was setting up his escape.

It never ceases to amaze me how the Democrats blame Bush for everything that has gone wrong.
The little detail that they had control of the house seems to elude their liberal democratic minds.. So go ahead you bunch of fools and vote Obama into office and America as we know it will be history. You think things are bad now strp back and watch him destroy our great nation.

I love it when people argue about democrat and republican.
Like arguing about typhoid and smallpox..how do you want to go down?

I just find it comical that only a few facts were given over the last two years ... when there was a dc congress
............................................. but people do not care to know the WHOLE story ... I will be vague on purpose to urge all to seek out the truth ... how it actually started in 1979 ... was ignored until 1992 when the "big push" started

Personally, I am extremely disappointed in gw ... but when I do the research ... he urged congress I count 17 times to make changes and they did not ... bo wrote a letter but failed to stand up against his party when hearings were held and bf agreed with former ceo's of both fm's ... another big disappointment
