I got up in a rather grumpy mood this morning. Stuck on the couch.... A..GIN after a hernia operation last week. I also got a flu shot while I was in the hospital and I'm not so sure as I wasn't having a bit of a reaction since I was having trouble breathing. Not even 60 yet and once again, here I sit, feeling like 80. It's the pits I tell ya – oh woe is me.
I wrote in an e-mail to a friend... “I need an attitude adjustment.”
Not thinking much more about the attitude adjustment, I looked at my camera sitting here, picked it up and took some pictures of my Halloween “stuff”. This particular friend has a low tolerance for such “girlie pictures.” So as I sent them off, I experienced a sense of satisfaction and pleasure with myself. There I go again.... exaggerating a touch. It at least gave me a chuckle to be somewhat irksome during this Halloween season.
Then it was time to put some food in my body, so back to the couch I went with a plate of scrambled eggs. The sky outside was still gray, a drizzle was coming down, and the house still had a bit of a chill. I decided to “go with the flow”. There wasn't much else I could do under the circumstance. I snuggled under my throw and turned on the old movie channel... not because there was nothing else to do... but because.... I could Haven't there after all, been days I wished I could do just this and not been able to? I decided to treasure the moment and the gray day made snuggling under the throw to a good movie just perfect.
It only got better. After the movie, I was able to send the following note to my niece who is more like a sister in age being just three years younger.
Do I ever wish you had been sitting on the couch next to me watching an old movie that just ended. If you ever get a chance and can find it, may I suggest you watch it. I do mean OLD!!! A classic.... "Lady in White". I'm going to see if it might possibly be available through Netflix. Remember when Grandma & I stayed with you guys when we first moved to CA? (Ha.... like you could possibly forget.) Anyway... right after school you would hurry home and we would watch Dark Shadows, I believe it was called. And didn't they have a "Lady in White" ? Sure seems like it. I wish I could remember the name of the classic actor in this. Gosh was it good and it felt just like we were back in the living room, white knuckled with suspense. Oh I wish you'd been here. Oh well, at least I had the pleasure of spending a couple hours with you. Memories are wonderful.
BTW I didn't find this same version of the movie, but Masterpiece Theater has a newer one called The Woman in White. I hope it will have the same “feel” as the old one. Eeerrie
Why.... it's turning out to be an enjoyable day after all. The sky is a mixture of colors now with some sunshine filtering in. I may just get off the couch and get a shower. Who knows what joys the rest of the day might bring.
